How much actual protein do you suppose to consume a day? I have been

averaging 40-60 grams a day with food. I am not taking any protein

supplement. Thank you in advance.

I think most of us average 20-25 grams of protein per meal; so that

is anywhere from 120 to 150 grams of protein per day. At 40-60 grams

you are only getting 7-10 grams per meal, which is too low.

You need roughly 1 gram per lb of body weight.

Bigger protein portions at your meals. Maybe post a sample of what

your meals look like.

I thought to build muscle, you are supposed to add more carbs not protein.

The BFL calculator shows a ratio of 30% protein/ 50% carbs/ 20% fat to build

muscle.

Am I mistaken? Now I'm really confused!

I'm not sure what your question is.

To burn fat, the prescribed ratio is 40% protein, 40% carb and 20% fat.

To build muscle, the prescribed ratio is 30% protein, 50% carb and 20% fat.

Therefore, to build muscle the carbs are, indeed, higher.

What are you confused about?

I'm confused about this thread...lol!!

The first post was a question about increasing protien to increase muscle.

I always thought you needed to increase carbs to increase muscle, as you

said n, not protien.

Well, after rereading 's original post maybe the question is not about

increasing protien, it's a baseline number of protien grams (does that make

sense?) I think I just read it wrong.

's original post was questioning the # of grams of protein she should

eat daily; she thought 150grams was higher than she expected. I don't

think she was asking about carbs at all.

Hope that clears up your confusion -
