Guest guest
How's the migraine this morning??? Did it wear itself off??? Hope your feeling better... 29 Birdies??????? Sounds like you have already started your own pet shop ) Your right, she will lay the eggs wether you want her too or not ) Is it 21 days till they hatch??? I don't quit remember anymore... She will lay one every other day, that I remember, until she has laid all that she is going too... It is so much fun watching the little ones grow up... You take care of yourself!!! love and Hugs Helen I have a migraine this morning. My whole left side of my head and face is hurting and my left eye is going funny with the light. This is just the start so I hope it does not get too bad. I might have to take some imitrex spray. My birdies are doing good. I have 29 now. I rescued two unweaned chicks (one is splay legged) from a pet store last week and I was shocked because I know that pet store very well they even know my voice when I call up to ask if something is in stock. I believe the store owners when they said that they knew nothing about it and the junior working in the bird section that day handled it when someone brought budgies in. I will probably never shop there again. While it might not have been direct cruelty from the owners they should keep better control over their staff especially juniors. Mysti has laid her first egg yesterday. She and Skylar are very proud o themselves. I do not know if it is going to be fertile since Sky is young and I have no idea if they have been mating. They act like textbook budgie parents every other way so it is possible. http://community.webshots.com/album/59451592rVpCSW I would not have chosen to breed a pair this young but Mysti was going to do it whether I like it or not so I decided better they do it in a place where it is controlled rather than finding a spot under my furniture. Guest guest
I took Imigran spray. Last night Mysti's egg got smashed when she spooked while I was cleaning the cage. Kids from church had come to see her and the egg earlier and I think she was fussed because of all the attention. When the kids were here she rolled her egg to the back of the box and started glaring at everybody and the kids laughed too loudly the noise bothered me as much as Mysti. So there is no more egg. She looks like she might lay another today or tomorrow though. She is working the nest box a lot and Skylar is looking after her. Poor Mysti was so forlorn last night she kept going to find her egg and realising it was gone and Sky preened her head and tried to cheer her up and flirt and she wanted none of it. Anyway this morning she was back to scratching around in the box and sitting in there a lot refusing to come out. Skylar has been feeding her and sometimes I look and they are both nowhere to be seen so they must both be in there. Sometimes they chirp and chatter both of them in there. I got two new budgies today from a store that I know quarantines for 4 weeks out the back so I can trust these people not like the jerks that sold Lucy and Rick too young. http://community.webshots.com/album/59825631CzjYQu there are pics of them. Guest guest
I hope that you are doing a lot better today... You have 31 birdies now??? You do know that you can NOT clean their cage while they are sitting on eggs??? Also they are not to be disturbed, exspecially by others outside the home... They want o be left alone during their nesting stage and while the babies are still little, otherwise they will crack the eggs open and they willl also kill their own babys if they are disturbed too much... We found all that out the hard way... Just put their cage off by itself away from the others so that they do not disturb them either... Cover up half the cage with cloth for privacy for them if you have too... Let no one else bother them until the chicks are at least 2 - 3 weeks old... The pet store here that we go to, always does all of this when they have a pair sitting... Hope this helps a little... She should be having another egg already ) Every two days unless one is all she will have... Have fun with your little ones and take care of yourself ) ((( Feathered Hugs ))) Helen I took Imigran spray. Last night Mysti's egg got smashed when she spooked while I was cleaning the cage. Guest guest
Mysti is so tame that she lies on the palm of my hand on her back for me to kiss her tummy. She gets distressed if she is left totally alone and also the two of them eat all the poopies off the cage floor and shred the newspaper and eat that too so I have to keep it clean or it stinks and they will be unhealthy if they eat all that poop. The two of them are very tame and Mysti was fine with me and her nest. It was the church kids that bothered her. I think it is different if it is not such a tame pair and if they are not used to a lot of handling, but Mysti is used to me and likes me to give her attention. After she laid the egg she was so proud of it and she seemed to like the fact that I told her she was a very good girl. She flips out if the cage is covered. She always did right from when I cover all the small cages on my bedroom floor everybody fusses if I do not leave the front of the cage exposed. This will be the last time anybody else gets near enough Mysti's nest to see eggs though. I think just too many people and too loud. Kids are loud enough that I have difficulty tolerating them myself. is right now getting down about every fifth word I type to pester my hands so I better go play with him or cage him.
