Guest guest
We’re thinking of going camping too. My son (the 6 year old archaeologist) wants to see the prehistoric cave paintings in France so we may camp near there and see what we can do. I also understand there are some great museums he may want to visit (if it has to do with archaeology, paleontology, or Egyptology he wants to see it). It would be great to find a dig site for him, but I’ve never seen one open to the public. My daughter thinks it would be fun too. She has no strong opinions on anything except dance – she loves to dance. She would dance all day long if she could. We took her to see some Degas paintings and she loved it. I want to take her to a ballet but I’m waiting until she is at least 7. Hopefully we can find fun things for her to do too.. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of fitgrl222@... I have a binder I write down all my workouts in and then I have my total hours that I worked out for the month. I'm doing " look great in eight " rotation, but I have added my own stuff to it too. The camping sounds fun. We've talked about doing it, but have yet to do it. We never go anywhere or do anything. We are in such a rutt. -- No virus found in this incoming message. Guest guest
Have you tried contacting a university with an archaeology program to see if they have anything you could take your son to see? Guest guest
yeah I kind of miss camping and i mean real camping not cabin camping or trailer camping like my brother does but popping a tent and cooking junk from a can, changing clothes in a tent while hoping no one sees you. lol lol the chilly dew in the morning, smells of last night bon fires. Nice stuff. I dont miss the sleeping on the hard ground part though. I was thinking this summer of having a mock campout for the kids. Pop a tent in the yard, make up a cooler full of food, give them a radio and cards and make them stay outside for a few days. The only time they get allowed to come inside is to go to the bathroom. They spend too much time inside and playing video games or watching baby tv(we dont have cable so all we get is PBS for them, I wont dare let them watch Jerry springer or any of the other daytime shows)in the summer. the only time they are outside is to swim. I think it will be fun.maybe even let them sleep over a night or 2 instead of sending them home. of course i will help do some cooking on the grill. I would also like to do an oldfashiod day where we don't use any electric if we could help it, all candles and other things just for fun. get the creative juices flowing ya know? > > Oh I love camping myself. Guest guest
I know exsactly what you mean Koalas! I love the hiking though it may look like I don't do anything. I like being in the woods and feeling at home and at peace. I strated my deep woods hiking back in 1991, and love'd it ever sense. My sister Tina and I have a sisters get together and go camping still every now and then. We don't do the two hour hike in but our favorite spot is Moss Lake in Eagle Bay, NY! One thing I don't like is the feeling that its becomming less of an actual Camping area and more of a tourist attraction. Guest guest
of course i will help do some cooking on the grill. > GRILL! what happened to the campfire? You guys are making me want to go out and find a kid to join scouts with. lol I used to love camping with my kids and the scouts. Growing up all of us kids in the neighborhood slept out under the stars, my dad would throw an old army canvas over a rope tied between trees that was our tent.We lived in the woods, none of us had tans.We were tough kids, heck my little brother and his friend sucked raw eggs out of a pinhole, now that's roughing it. YUCK!!!! lol What was really cool was my dad built my brothers a whole Indian village out in the woods.I think growing up with parents who grew up in the depression was like having gold.My mom and dad made us and all the other kids all kinds of neat things out of nothing. I think they were green before their time. As for going green for the gathering , I think it,s great! We don't use paper plates in our house so that's no big deal for me.Maybe I can dig out my girl scout collapsible cup, I know I have it somewhere. Another story; when I was 6 we went out to California from NJ to see Grandma, Grandpa, aunts, uncles & cousins. My dad packed our 1950? " PINK " Studabaker wagon, built a wooden box to carry our stuff on the roof ,built my little brother who was around 2 and me a bunk bed across the back , my mom and 2 older brothers slept on air mattress with the seat folded down at night and my dad across the front seat.Back then Dixie made paper bowls and milk came in a glass bottle so....the boys didn't have to make many pit stops. It was hard finding bushes for my mom and me out in the desert. lol My little brother sang " Eat in the car, sleep in the car, pee in the car " lol. When we got out there my dad emptied the box put his old trusty army canvas in it and made us kids a pool.We got to see things there and back that only rich kids saw back then.My mom and dad saved every penny for that month long trip and it will stick with me forever, i wouldn't trade it for all the gold in china! Make those kids summertime memories, they will love you for it. Susie Goat Lady Soap Co. Guest guest
well we just have a little fire pit that is allenclosed so you can't quite cook on it. and the last few times we had REAL bon fires some jerks called the fire department on us. Our neighbors can be real downers. granted the one was several feet tall. Lets see we used to go to Maine each and every year when I was little. my parents fit 4 of us kids maybe at times 5 of us plus the two of them in the van or station wagon. I remember sleeping with a huge cardboard box full of clothes under me. We had a huge 10 person army tent. I had fun memories from Maine. I remember standing under the dryier vents outside the laundry house to dry my hair. lol lol putting quarters in the outdoor showers and i mean outdoor i am surprised the wind didn't blow the curtains opened. (or maybe they were doors, i was only maybe as old as 8 back then) Speaking of singing in the car, i drove everyone crazy singing to " C is for Chrissy, its good enough for me " along with cookie monster and other various sesame street songs. Everyone was hoping the 8track would break. Also the muppets " moving right along " is another great trip song. This is fun going down memory lane. anyone else have fun camp stories? > > > > yeah I kind of miss camping and i mean real camping not cabin camping or trailer camping like my brother does but popping a tent and cooking junk from a can, changing clothes in a tent while hoping no one sees you. lol lol the chilly dew in the morning, smells of last night bon fires. Guest guest
Hmm Camping stories eh? Well, when I was little, we would go camping in the wilderness. A few of you may know that I grew up in South Eastern Idaho, not far from Yellowstone park and the Teton Peaks. No camp grounds (never been to one before I was married) . We would bath (wash up) in a creek, and sleep outside under the stars. We dint even have a tent. If we went anywhere that required an overnite stay and we were not camping we'd have to sleep in the car. Only spent one or two times in a hotel room when I was a kid and one was because we were stuck out in the desert in the winter. Guest guest
As a kid, my only family camping experience was in a pop-up for a few days. Boy, did we rough it! ;-) We took our kids to a state park with no electricity and we were on a beautiful site at the edge of a ridge. That night, we had a microburst and were afraid that our camper was going over the cliff. We had to stay in the cars because of the chance of getting hit by lightning, the kids were screaming, it was terrific. We went home the next day. We do own a pop-up, and went a few times, but the kids are getting too old and busy, so we're selling it. I like day hikes where I can go back to a hotel at night and take a shower and sleep in a clean bed, LOL. Beth www.soapandgarden.com www.soapandgarden.blogspot.com Be good to your skin! Guest guest
Dang I always wondered what it be like to sleep right out in the open! As children I never went camping with family matter fact the only camp we would do is if we went with Salvation Army or Community center in our area and those where cabins packed full bratt kids lol. My first hiking experience was when I was 21! I LOVED IT. We had rachins and tent, and it was a 2hr hike and I thought I was going to die lol cause I didnt know how to breathe right while hiking with heavy pack on my back. Gabby > > Hmm Camping stories eh? Guest guest
Naw not me. I never once wondered what it would be like to sleep under the stars. Growing up i knew way too well about moisqeetos. As matter of fact one camp trip we did stay right in the woods (vs open camp area) and wow was it buggie. I hate bugs. please give me a tent and keep the buggers OUT of it. another fun idea is if you can't go away and camp but you have a screened in porch. grab a sleeping bag and sleep on that or as my cousin and I did on occassion was grabbed out swim floats and slept on them on the porch. amazing experiance. you catch all the late nighters out and about and a cool breeze(if your lucky enough) > > Dang I always wondered what it be like to sleep right out in the open! Guest guest
My brother and my freind and I did that all the time in the yard when we were kids. Like I said, we dint have a tent. You just have to keep your face in the sleeping bag. Moquitoes seem to go away when it gets later in the nite but your nose gets cold. One nite one of our cats crawled inside my brothers sleeping bag and had kittens! Shaye Re: ot camping Dang I always wondered what it be like to sleep right out in the open! Guest guest
The cat crawled in the sleeping bag with your brother and gave birth???? Wow Im sure he freaked out by that. I mean its one thing to crawl in to keep warm but um that's going a bit too far. what did he do when he noticed? how did he notice? > > > > Hmm Camping stories eh?
