Guest guest
angela, well if you have a step then cathe's basic step is a great place too start. and as i mentioned before there are other workouts on it as well so you can have a full workout. its well worth the money. i think carolyn already mentioned him but i forgot too. gilad has great workouts. once in awhile i will do the show off of fittv and a i have a couple tapes from him as well. can easily be modified if you don't like the lifts or jumps and very basic choreography. kassia Music Unlimited - Access over 1 million songs. Guest guest
Hi . here is a link to the beginner's forum on video fitness: http://forum.videofitness.com/forumdisplay.php?f=6 That should be helpful, I hope! Anyway, off the top of my head - some good places to start: The Beachbody Project:You series with Kathy would be great for someone new to exercise. The full kit includes 3 cardio workouts that get progressively more challenging, 3 strength workouts - upper/abs, lower/abs and a circuit style workout and 1 pilates/yoga workout. The Pilates/Yoga isn't that great, IMHO, but the rest of the series is good! Another favorite of mine is Prevention's Walk Your Way Slim. 3 levels of modification are shown so you can progress to a higher level as your fitness improves. I also like Gaiam's Get MOving Walking for Weight Loss which includes 3 10 min circuits of 8 min of walk-aerobics and 2 min of strength training for the lower body. A 4th 10 min section has a nice stretch. Some older Kathy workouts are great, too. I like her original Step Workout. And, it can be made more advanced as you progress by raising your step height. I did Gin 's Simply Step last week and had a great workout. This is another than can be easily modified for all levels - just use a lower step height and don't add in the " power " moves. Charlene Prickett also has a nice variety of workouts for the beginner to advanced. Her choreography isn't terribly difficult and she is very thorough in her strength training workouts with respect to providing lots of form pointers and useful information about the muscles you are working, etc. Hope this helps!
