Guest guest
I have two quick favorites...that even those family members not doing BFL like. Beef Burritos Ground buffalo (or use lean beef) seasoned w/taco seasoning - add black beans and salsa when meat is done. Then add whole wheat tortilla Approx 1 TB LF Cottage cheese lettuce and tomatoe Chicken Pizza Top a whole wheat pita with Ragu pizza sauce sprinkle with dried onion or chop some fresh onion add low fat or FF mozzerella lot's of mushrooms add cooked chicken cubed Bake at 350 till warm and melted. I make a whole batch of pizzas and keep them frozen. Pop them in the oven when I walk in and they are quick and easy. I only eat half a pizza along with a salad and water. > Hi all, > > I've been quickly jumping in now and then to check the messages and > look at all the awesome photos so I can keep up on the progress you > all are making (even though I've been MIA as far as posting lately). > Now I have a food poll for you guys: > > What do you consider to be your main food staples when you go grocery > shopping (items you can't live without, so to speak)? Guest guest
LOL...I didn't add eggs because we raise chickens so I don't buy them at the store, but they are a major staple and I eat lots of them! Guest guest
I cannot live without a box of Kashi good friends and a bag of raw almonds but be careful if you get these. Ten a day is about all you should do. For some folks this is too big a temptation because you can go through half a bag(pound or so) in about ten minutes. Guest guest
(raises hand) me! I can no longer have nuts of any kind in my house. Free day is all about trail mix...I have no idea why, but ever since starting BFL I'm nuts over nuts!! My list: chicken breast ground chicken breast pork tenderloin - pricey but worth it flank steak - also pricey and worth it, great for grilling canned tuna canned salmon (the kind with no bones or skin..blech) BEANS!!! (black, white, kidney, lima, lentils you name it) barley Brown rice yams peppers onions mushrooms cilantro (i do a lot of mexican flavorings) whatever other veggie is on sale apples cottage cheese oats egg beaters JeAnne > I cannot live without a box of Kashi good friends and a bag of raw > almonds but be careful if you get these. Guest guest
do any of you have the Schwann's food service in your area? they have some individually frozen 4 oz turkey fillets that are really good. I just sprinkle a little cajun seasoning on them and put them on my pampered chef stone for 20 min at 350...yummy!
Guest guest
I also keep a box of Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal on hand. It has 9 grams of protein per serving. Ann
Guest guest
> Hmmm.... I can think of a few things. > > I like Boca Burgers - 13 grams of protein, 6 carb, lots o'fiber > > La Tortilla low fat/low carb tortillas - the small ones and I will > eat 2 at a time with shredded chicken, lf cheese or avocado > (snip) One of my main foods are yellow corn tortillas...they are great...a serving is two at about 140 cal. and 23 carbs (with 2 fibers?) and I do not fry them...I do like they do in Mexico, I just heat over a hot skillet...then you can add diced chicken, 4% fat gd beef....pork tenderloin...even fish , then put on some hot sauce and lettuce...onions sometimes a small amt of avacado...if you want ff cheese or lf cheese..two tacos will make a great meal and you can almost persfectly make the rations even. I have these at least once a week and then use left overs for lunch...we used to fry these (and always had tacos at least once a week)..now my DH and I are used to just heating them on a iron skillet (don't eve need pam) and we like them even better. He eats four and I eat two at a sitting (he is not on BFL..) Pat
Guest guest
Yup! Mexican Chicken is my favorite! I will brown some chicken breasts with pam, onions, peppers, garlic powder and franks hot sauce. Then I will take a can of FF low sodium chicken broth or garlic flavored chicken broth and put it in the pot with the chicken breasts and boil down the broth until there is nothing left. Then I shred the chicken with a fork and whisk - yummy!!!! I will measure out my portion onto 2 La Tortillas (www.latortillafacotry.com)- each 50 cal, 2 fat, 11 carb, 8 fiber, 4 protein, top with lots of greens, cabbage, tomatoes, an ounce of avocado and/or cheese and salsa - one of my favorite meals! Ole! My hubby loves this recipe too. He is strictly doing WW, but it works well for both of us because it is balanced (he usually eats 2 but with more protein and little bigger FF flour tortillas). > One of my main foods are yellow corn tortillas...they are great...a > serving is two at about 140 cal. and 23 carbs (with 2 fibers?) and I > do not fry them...I do like they do in Mexico, I just heat over a hot > skillet...then you can add diced chicken, 4% fat gd beef....pork > tenderloin...even fish , then put on some hot sauce and > lettuce...onions sometimes a small amt of avacado...if you want ff > cheese or lf cheese..two tacos will make a great meal and you can > almost persfectly make the rations even.
