Guest guest
--- Yes..lol.my kids are bfl kids. well..lately I have not been as strict with them..they eat string cheese..and cheese sandwiches..and today I bought them corn dogs at fred meyer! they luv fruit and whle wheat bread and yougurt. the protein part is hard sometimes...they luv ham and turkey from the deli which I make sure is good enuff I would eat on a normal day. and they know what I can't eat! lol..when I first did bfl I was much more strict with them on only eating bfl food. they hate cottage cheese and tuna now..which I tend to eat often as my protein. but I make them shakes too which they luv. and they are always like.. " is today free day? " my daughter who is 3 almost 4..she is like.. " today is kids free day " I am like..ummm..no it is not little gurl..lol..I have been fixing them like lasagna with full fat cheese in it..but I am gravitating now toward more bfl friendly meals. I can't wait to get the cookbook whenever that comes out! but with my kids..I can't always get them to eat a protein with their carb..I used to be able to more when they were littler..they were not soo dang picky. I make sure I tell them the importance of proteins though. I am just glad to be able to teach them the right way to eat at such a young age..they will have an advantage over me..I did not know how to eat right till I was 22! and they know i go to the gym each morning cept free days. soo they are knowing how important exercise is. I am soo glad we can teach out kids these things. that is great christina! how do you handle the eating with your kids..like do you have them eat every 2 hours and do they always have a protein with their carb? my kids eat every 2 or 3 hours..they just don't always have protein with the carbs. naughty stuff for them is usually only once a week..but thru the week sometimes they have a candy at a doctors office or like..umm..a corn doggy today! oh with mac an cheese I might add! Guest guest
Talk about food police. My kids would totally raise their eyebrows if they saw me eating chocolate or some sugared cereal. And they're so down on alcohol and any other unsavory substances. They often have " treats " themselves but I'd better not make a wrong move or I'll hear about it. Just the rustling of paper of a semi authorized Zone bar and they'll ask what I'm eating. Stasia
Guest guest
Mine really like the foods I eat. They do still get treats though, but seem to prefer what I eat. I am very happy about that! Sunshine BFL kids My kids love BFL and freedays. One thing I've noticed is that while they've always eaten firly healthy and A LOT...and are active, BFL has changed them as well. They don't fuss as much....they know they only get crud once a week and they help keep Jeff and me on track. Having them doing it as well (obviously not lifting weights, although they love to get cans and water jugs out to work their biceps)has really kept us honest. Try sneaking an unauthorized food with five sets of eyes staring you down in disappointment..... Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience. Guest guest
You should see the looks on people's faces when they give my kids some junk at a birthday party and my kids turn to me and ask " Mom, is this authorized? Doesn't it have too much sugar? " While I do not have my family following BFL as strictly as I do, I definitely try to give them a lean protein and a complex carb at every meal, and I do my best to keep the snacks on the healthy side. And as several others have noted, there is no cheating when the kids are around. They watch me like a hawk. Sherri > My kids love BFL and freedays. Guest guest
--- oh my gosh..my kids do that too! they are like at the store too..and they pointed to some peanut butter today..and said.. " does that have too much sugar in it? " and I if we go somewhere to a function and they see food they know I won't eat..they are like.. " is it free day today? " and on saturday when it is free day..they jump for joy and it is like a holiday every week in our house! that is soo cute Sherri! I can't cheat around my kids...they know all too well now what I can and can't eat! I found I got very embarassed when they were around and I would cheat..and they would say something to me..and you know..kids say the truth..they will ask.. " is it your free day? " it just comes right out! soo like for 6 months now..that is definately a reason I have not cheated..a reason of many..I also don't like to cheat in front of my husband..then I have to make excuses to him..and I don't like that..even though he does not follow bfl..I still have to be accountable to him as well as the kids! Guest guest
My kids do seem to eat healthy, but they also have treats. I really try not to make a huge deal about food in my house. We don't talk about diets just being healthy. My girls are 11 and 13 and are extremely aware of their body (It's the age.) We are so active though (with cheer, baseball, baseketball, volleyball, swimming, boating, etc oh yeah and shopping)that they probably burn tons of calories. I do have a no soda home though!! They can have it out, but I don't buy it for the house. My oldest went to the movies Saturday and bought me a mini AbbaZabba and when I woke up Sunday, my freeday and day to sleep in. instead of the usual 4:45 a.m. she brought me ccoffee the newspaper and and abba zabba with a note that said happy ffreeday . I was so touched. Bridgette and she c > My kids love BFL and freedays. Guest guest
Well, I don't have any kids, but I do have a BFL puppy. I share almost everything I eat with her (i know...table scraps....blah...blah...blah). She sits on her little bottom until I give her a scrap of food. She gets real edgy every two to three hours. She knows when it's time to eat . She LOVES cottage cheese:). Anyway, my grandparents brought over their Shit-Tzu (which is what my Hallie is) who is three months older than Hallie. This dog looked puny next to my puppy. My puppy is not fat at all, just muscley and long. It's the BFL diet...I just know it . (Okay dog owners, please don't scold me.):/( > > > My kids love BFL and freedays. Guest guest
My (very vocal) 12-year-old daughter keeps me on track if I try to sneak in a 'cheat' food....makes me feel totally guilty, LOL. Vicky Re: BFL kids I don't have kids but I just had to respond to this anyway...I think it's so cool! So many people use their kids as an excuse NOT to do stuff like this...and here you are turning them into an asset! Good for you! -- in ID tinifer wrote: >My kids love BFL and freedays.
