Guest guest
I'm 8 wks pregnant and was experiencing *awful* nausea, fatigue and depression. I was already on a gluten free diet for 2 months. Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. Eating potato or rice or corn was making me feel like a pile of dirt. I love the taste of these starch foods, but the effects are not worth it. I went back on SCD (which I followed for IBS a couple years ago.) Questions: - For those of you who've thought/read a lot about this stuff, what do you think of Gottschall's theory that digestive issues are caused when our bodies cannot break the bonds between sugars in disaccharides and polysaccharides? I've been following recent discussions here with interest, but unless I'm missing something, I haven't seen that theory addressed. Is there any other research that points to difficulties in breaking the bond between glucose and fructose (in sucrose) or between galactoses (in lactose). - I am thinking of making an exception to SCD when it comes to lactose. I don't know that I have a problem with lactose. I am craving my claravale raw milk, and cultured cream, and 12-hour yogurt tastes so much better than 24-hour. Is there any basis for thinking I may be sensitive to starches (polysaccharides) but ok with lactose? Thanks, Daphne
