Guest guest
Resources for kids I can recommend a couple of books for kids. My 13 yo found that reading about other kids like her made a big difference. She is also connected to the ocdteen list, which is very positive for her. Lately they have been writing poetry and she cant say enough good things about what has been written. Her favourite book is " Kissing Doorknobs " . I dont have the authors name b/c the book is at her friends house! I can get it if you need it. Its a story about a young girl, from about 11yo for a few years. She does all kinds of wierd things and no one knows why. Eventually she meets someone who knows exactly why. Its about 150 pages or so... I payed $21cdn, so that's about $15us - not cheap, but worth it. Another book is " Polly's magic games, a Child's View of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder " by Constance H.. This is a story about a 10 yo girl, but is suitable for younger kids, probably 5 and up. This is a book which shows how a diagnosis may have been made, suggests how friendship should not be effected by ocd. I like its simple language. Its about $13us. I have ordering info for this book. The " Touching Tree " video may also be a good resource. It was too simplified for my crowd though!! Hope this is helpful..... wendy in canada
