Welcome, Jay!

Great to have more fathers' content on the list. Leigh is one of many kids

on the list with the triple diagnosis of TS/OCD/ADHD. Do you have a copy of

TEACHING THE TIGER?? Its worth buying a copy for the school. I hate this

feeling of knowing the professionals are missing the point and misdiagnosing

our kids, or thinking that we are exagerating. We had the same thing for

years, still do sometimes.

The local TS group is fantastic, I'm sure you get a lot of info from them.

Do you have a support system? Is there someone who can offer you some time

out when you need it?? This is the hardest part of being a single parent.

Sometimes I feel like I'm a single parent, considering that hubby and 3 kdis

have OCD/MDD!!! My support system was my mom who died last winter. Now I

have this list, my son in a group home and few local friends!

Where do you live? Is Leigh accessing cbt?

I cant stress enough how important it is to take care of yourself.

Welcome Jay,

I have a 16 year daughter with ocd! She does the constant washing of hands,

shower! She has to have things just in place in her room, although it is a

total

mess. It is called hoarding. She can't throw anything out, even a glass of

water. She will set it in a certain spot and then I know it's okay to be thrown

(as long as she doesn't do it). School has been a struggle because she has to

read and re-read an assignment over and over. She is athletic, smart, a

cheerleader and has lots of friends. She hides it real well until the anxiety

is

too much. We have her in cognitive behavior therapy and she is on Zoloft! What

a difference in her attitude. Used to be so snippy and angry. Her poor 18

sister has a hard time. Keep me posted on your daughter.

HI Jay:

Welcome to this list. It sounds like you have a lot of valuable experience

to share about advocating for Leigh in the school system. Have her

teachers read Dr. Marilyn Dornbusch's book " Teaching the Tiger? " This book

has a lot of good ideas and you are probably already familiar with it.

Hi Jay,

Welcome! I am sure you will enjoy it here.

My name is . My son who is 8 has OCD and we think ADHD(though we haven't

officially diagnosed it yet). My daughter who is 12 has epilepsy, dyslexia, and

ADD w/o H.

I have been on the list for almost 2 months I think. I have learned so much

here. Everyone is very helpful.
