Guest guest
It was really amazing to watch orangutans on the discovery channel make tofu. Seriously, it was in the wild, and there was a whole field of soy, and they were cultivating it, and even precipatating the soy into tofu, which they kept wrapped up in some big leaves. It was really neat. One of the orangutangs was wearing a hat that said " Monsanto " on it. Then a predatory chimpanzee killed him and ate him. I guess vegetarians are dominated even in the wild. Guest guest
oh for crying out loud! will it never end? " ape " diet? puhlease..since when is tofu and margerine part of a primitive ape diet? lol. the sheer absurdity of this study is mind-boggling. a few comments below: >>>>'Ape diet' lowers bad cholesterol levels http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99993966 A vegetarian " ape-diet " , based on the foods our simian cousins eat, is as effective in lowering cholesterol as an established cholesterol-lowering drug, reveals a new study. High cholesterol levels increase the risk of cardiovascular disease. ----->WRONG! the data simply do not support the fallacious premise of this study to begin with. >>>The key components of the ape diet are plant sterols, found in plant oils and enriched margarines, viscous fibre, found in oats, barley and aubergine, and soy protein and nuts. ---->why? do they take the place of cholesterol in the blood? People with raised cholesterol following this primitive diet had their levels of bad cholesterol slashed by about a third - the same reduction provided by the statin drug, lovastatin. ----->no such thing as " bad " cholesterol. He believes that humans may be evolutionarily adapted to the diet, which is similar to that eaten by gorillas and orangutans. -------->oh that's brilliant - you know we should hook him up with the natural hygienests and their ape-based frutarian diet, since they seem to share the same bizarre logic that we should go back to a diet that some distant ancestor ate millions of years ago. " Although many drugs are extremely safe, there's always a slight chance of risk of the drug and drug interactions, " he says. ------>actually, some of the cholesterol lowering drugs may be extremely harmful. >>>>However, the British Heart Foundation says: " There is a wealth of evidence to suggest that statins are superior to diet in lowering cholesterol levels. " ------>right. numerous studies have failed to lower cholesterol with diet other than a few percentage points. drugs have been the only effective way to lower cholesterol significantly and consistently. The BHF also points out " this is a small short-term study supported by numerous food manufacturers, which may have influenced the findings " . ------>big shocker. Suze Fisher Lapdog Design, Inc. You owe me a new keyboard - did you know that even organic iced coffee with raw organic cream in it makes the keys all sticky?
