Great idea! For those times when you don't need it quick, try cooking whole

oat groats in a slow cooker overnight-lovely tender creamy goodness all ready

for you in the morning, and makes the house smell wonderful!

Like you I developed a method to easily have oatmeal anytime.  I tackled this a little differently though.  I start by grinding 1/4 cup of flax seeds in the Vitamix dry container and place it in a bowl.  I then crack one cup of whole oats, 1/2 cup wheat, and 1/4 cup of brown rice in my Vitamix dry container and add this to the ground flax seeds.  I bring 8 cups of salted water to a boil and slowly add the oatmeal mixture.  I cover it and simmer it for 20 minutes.  Stir frequently.  I put the cooked mixture in a bowl and place it in the refrigerator.  After it cools it is very solid and I scoop put a 1/2 cup in a microwave compatible bowl with a little milk and maple syrup and microwave on high for 1 and a half minutes.  I dust it with cinnamon and add a little vanilla.   I also take a bowl to work and reheat it at break.
