Guest guest
(This was in response to a post about the TV show about Hollywood stars and dieting and vanity...it seemed very relevant to what is going on here so please understand that I wanted to put this forward): After reading this stuff, I got very disgusted. We, society, place si much emphasis on looks, beauty which equates to beauty and the " beautiful people " . I don't want to earn 23 million dollars or have a hit series and have to be judged or rated by what I look like and how I look on a minute to minute basis. Further, the eye of judgement for people described is insane. I want to balance this out by saying, there are plenty of real-life, plain Jane/Joe people that also have such emphasis on what the look like and what they weigh or their body fat that evrything is so out of proportion. Whether here on BFL Winners or in Hollywood, if we lose the fact that we are more than what are bodies look like or what our body fat levels are...well, I find that so disturbing and we as a society really have a lot to learn as to our purpose...to ourselves or others. I just had to share this as I am so sick and tired of how we judge, critique, and give importance to values that are physical and superfacial. Even that a show like that was aired gives pause for thought. I won't go into the cultural dynamics of thin vs. fat, beautiful vs. ugly...or all the other polarized dynamics that we find in our lives, whether on the tv/movie screen or otherwise. I hope that whoever reads this takes a moment to realize your worth as a person...not as a number, percentage, or Challenge number. Thank you for letting me share this.
