Grrrrrrr....frustrations

I was all psyched to have a great UBW today and when I got to the gym at noon

this group of big bodybuilder guys were hogging all the weight benches and

being....well, just big rude guys!! I like to start with my chest exercises,

but I started with my back and when I got done with that they still weren't off

the other benches so I settled for an incline bench which I don't like because

it exacerbates my 'bad' shoulder to lift in that position (I really should have

my shoulder looked at by a doctor, but I'm a big chicken and I'm afraid he'll

tell me I need surgery or something. I fell off a horse onto my shoulder about

9 years ago and have had some problems with limited range of motion ever since.)

Then by the time I was ready to use the dumbells on the other side of the gym

for my shoulder exercises the guys were all over on that side so rather than

wait for them to finish I did shoulders on the Nautilis machines which was fine

since my left shoulder was totally sore by then from the incline lifts anyway.

Grrrr... thanks for letting me vent, I hate it when I'm so psyched and in a good

mood looking forward to a wonderful workout and it goes all wrong. At least I

totally blasted by biceps and triceps (the big rude guys were gone by then!).

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Vicky,

I'm sorry you had that kind of work out, but it happens. Sometimes I

go and the gym is SO busy. Monday nights are a horror if I go at a regular

hour (so I wait until 11pm or midnight when it's dead). I guess everyone

starts over on Mondays? LOL and decides they better get busy after the

weekend?

(my gym is 24 hours 7 days a week).

I have no tolerance for rude people at the gym, if I notice someone wants

the dumbells I'm using, and I'm just about finished, I'll take my

walkman off

and tell them I'm almost done, at the end I say thanks for waiting I

appreciate it.

If someone is using a set, I wait for a minute or two, or I might say,

" Can I work

in a set with you if you don't mind? " As for the weight bench, I'd

definitely ask

if someone would mind sharing since you have a bad shoulder.

I know it might be easier said then done. One thing I don't understand,

is why don't

they (the gym owners) get more then one complete set of dumbells? They

are ALWAYS

in use when I go at a normal hour/busy time...it would make it much

easier and make

more sense. K, end of my rant.

Tink :)

Hi Tink,

Noon is supposed to be faculty/staff time at the fitness center here where I

work and during the summer it's usually very quiet in there so that's why I

anticipated a nice empty gym to work out in!! Gym etiquette is important, but

ignored by so many and I agree with you on the complete sets of dumbells!
