Guest guest
Hi Gladys: Grade 39C alcohol is one of the denatured alcohols recommended for perfume making. It is odorless, and strong enough to emulsify any oils added to it without clouding or separation. It can be used in the same quantity in recipes that use grain alcohol. I have used Everclear and have noticed a definite odor, even after aging the perfumes. (let me tell you about my experiments using it to make liqueurs sometime...yuck!) The problem lies with the fusel oils that come over during distillation. It is what gives grain alcohol that lovely " rocket fuel " nuance.... I run the alcohol through a paper coffee filter packed with activated charcoal (the kind for aquarium filters), let it settle and decant off the clear alcohol. It seems to help somewhat, but I still wouldn't use it to make liqueur! :-Þ Look for 39C alcohol online under chemical and perfume suppliers. Cat > I want information on this alcohol. Can it be used in perfume is it the same > thing as Midwest Grain alcohol? the for the answer. Gladys
Guest guest
Hmm, i was told by the Australasian College (aromatherapy/herbalism school) that only perfumers could buy this as it was regulated by the government and you had to have a license to get it. katherine On Wed, 17 Oct 2001 10:39:16 -0500, wrote: > Hi Gladys: > Grade 39C alcohol is one of the denatured alcohols recommended for perfume > making.
