Just think how many insurance dollars could have been saved by treating Lyme

with long-term antibiotics!!!!! The insurance company could have paid for 1

and 1/2 years of rocephin with what the doctors spent in the first 8 months

trying to prove that it wasn't Lyme.

Hi All,

I sure would be interested in any information on long term use, I

have been on the combo now for 17 months, will be on for two full years, I am

RNA 0 now for over 4 months, and my doctor has let me reduce my dosage, once

a month, from 3.5 and now at present .2. I did get an RNA every time I

reduced. The side effects were killing me, so my very good doctor and I

talked about reducing instead of taking me off the meds. all together. So far

so good. I am not going to go any lower, don't want to push my luck. For all

the new comers, I was on the combo for 3 months, when my G.I. told me the

medicine worked, and I was in remission. 3 months later my viral count had

doubled from when I had first started. He made a big mistake, so I found a

doctor who knew what he was talking about, and was willing to play around

with the dose if necessary, and it was. No matter what happens in NOV. I am

taking a long vacation from this medicine, don't know what it's doing to me,

or what it will do to me in the future. Remission or not, I have a good 30

years, I hope, and will wait for something better to come along. The side

effects are to much, the only reason why I have not gone completely nuts is,

I still work full-time. I have 8 hours a day, where I don't have to think

about me, I do curse the alarm when it goes off.

Thanks

If you miss a single dose of the ribaviran, (depending on whether you

take it all at once, twice, three of four times a day) you can make it

up the same day, but, if it is the next day, just forget the one missed,

and continue on. If you are getting the combo therapy and miss a dose of

interferon, you can take it the next day, and just make it every other

day for the rest of the week. A single dose, or even a week, if

necessary, should not affect your outcome.

If you have been on the therapy for some time and your blood counts are

stable, you can take the therapy 2 days in a row. But, be careful,

because you are now losing your recuperation time, and that make make

you more tired, or increase the regular side effects you normally

experience. The idea is to maintain a regular level in your system, and

1 day will not change anything.

If you are like most people on the combo therapy, you are probably not

getting the shots over the weekend, and you just make the day missed as

your weekend. But, start the next week off on your normal schedule.

I see that everyone keeps mentioning this flax seed oil and cottage cheese.

Also the B17. Does anyone know where you can get the B17? My mother was

diagnosed with Lung Cancer non small cell this past Feb. She was considered

to be in-operable and now they are saying all they can do is try to prolong

her life. I am not excepting this and I need help and some answers so that I

can help my mother. She just turned 64 and is having a hard time excepting

death as well. Please help! I am just so helpless right now.

To add B17 to your diet you can easily purchase apricot pits and millet from

your health food store. Go easy on the pits; they taste like almonds and

easy to munch on but can have a laxative effect. Millet is a good substitute

for rice and my family doesn't mind it although it is a bit more gummy than

brown rice.

We are all carrying our share of stress around. Now

and then we have to let it go. My friends and family

have been supportive, but there's still some things

they can't understand. The doctors don't understand.

Only you guys do. I'm grateful to have this outlet for

the sake of my (fragile :) mental health. Don't be

sorry, we can share our tears, too. -dz-

Deciding on treatment was easy for me. I'm on my second round, and if I

relapse again I'll try a third until something better comes along. Hang in

there and keep up a good attitude.

I've been sick as a dog lately. Every day after I eat

breakfast I start feeling sick until I don't think I

can stay at work any longer. By mid-afternoon I have

started to feel a little better. Because of my

toothache, I'm finding it difficult to drink all the

water I should, maybe that has something to do with

it. -dz-

Hi Dave

I'm great in the morning after eating breakfast (which I can't go without

because I will have low blood sugar) but after lunch I have a very heavy

down time and almost fall asleep no matter what I'm doing. I really drag.

By the time I get home I'm up for doing the chores and after supper I

crash. But I get up at 4 AM and feel pretty good.

Get that damn tooth fixed or have it hauled out - that infection is probably

compromising your immune system.

Your banjo buddy,

Dennis

I guess it gets us all differently. I have religiously

ate breakfast every morning for several years. I am

finding, though, that I may have to skip it, or tone

it way down. I had a banana yesterday and I felt sick

for a short while afterwards and then was ok, I made

it to church and then I was able to eat a good lunch

afterwards. My toothache has been complicated by the

fact that our insurance changed and now my dentist of

the last 10 years is not on the list. If I need a root

canal ins. would pay 50% to my dentist or 80% to one

of theirs. At $400-$500 for a root canal, I am going

to have to check out their dentist. I'm going to call

him today. (we have two choices in all the Green Bay

area) -dz-

Yeah, my dentist told me if it wasn't better by Monday

(last Monday) I should schedule time for a root canal.

Unfortunately I feel I have to find a new dentist to

do it, due to insurance limitations. -dz-

Hi DZ

I don't know about you but I hate going to the dentist. Many years ago I had

to have 8 root canals done at once, because of an accident I was in. Now I

don't let them do any. If he won't pull it I just find a dentist that will.

I want to be able to put my teeth on the table and let them hurt all they

want.

I hear you. I am debating that, too. In my life I have

had two root canals, and both teeth ended up being

pulled later anyway, I ended up with bridges. This

tooth is in the back and I don't know if I want to do

without it or not. I have one bridge in front that

cost me $1500 (I had to pay $750). A bridge in the

back though, is cheaper if I decide I need one. (they

don't have to make them look so much like the natural

teeth) -dz-
