Guest guest
Late Deployments have Fort Riley Scrambling to House Soldiers AP http://www.wibw.com/home/headlines/2266591.html Topeka,KS 2-6-06 Housing may get a little tighter in the next few weeks at Fort Riley. Base officials say redeployments and delayed deployments mean the base is now home to a lot more soldiers than they anticipated. Mike Goreham of the Business Operations and Master Planning Division says some soldiers may have to sleep in barracks that were slated for major repairs. Some of those facilities have plumbing problems and inefficient heating and ventilating systems. He worries that could cause mold and fungus to grow. The base hasn't been able to do major renovations since portions of the First Brigade, First Infantry Division stayed behind instead of going to Iraq. Goreham says more than 600 barracks spaces are under construction.
