Woman sues over toxic mold

SARATOGA SPRINGS -- A Saratoga Springs woman has sued the Saratoga

Springs Housing Authority, saying her Vanderbilt Terrace apartment

was infected with toxic mold.

Latalladi said in court papers filed this week at the Saratoga

County Clerk's Office in Ballston Spa that she suffered permanent

and lasting health problems from the mold. The lawsuit doesn't go

into specifics.

A Latalladi family member declined comment Wednesday evening, but

the family still lives in the apartment at 6C2 Vanderbilt Terrace.

Latalladi, who is represented by the Albany law firm of

O'Connor, O'Connor, Bresee & First, said she complained about

excessive moisture in the apartment. According to the lawsuit, she

moved in to the apartment in 2000 and it tested positive for the

mold last February.

Gerard Zabala, executive director of the Housing Authority, said

Wednesday that he knew nothing of Latalladi's complaint and that the

project manager would have handled <>it.

According to court papers, the authority was served with a notice of

claim, the precursor to a lawsuit, in April.
