Guest guest
what kinds of protein are you eating? I experience this exact problem but only with soy based proteins. I avoid them at all costs..luckily whey protein is fine and animal proteins equally easy on my system.
Guest guest
Somehow I knew this was what you were going to ask. I finally convinced my husband to take some protein drinks to work since he works out in the heat all day and wasn't eating anything. Last night he finally confessed that as good as they taste, it sure gives him the worst gas for about an hour. Good thing he eats them at lunch <G> I know a lot of people who don't handle protein or protein powder very well. Sometimes adding flax all at once can have the same effect also Colleen > > Hi all, now here's a question I am so embarrassed to have to ask, but I > can't go on any longer without asking you all....you know so much about > everything else, give this one a whirl! > > Ever since the end of week 1 I have had the worst gas in my life! Guest guest
Could be a number of things, but what I found w/ me is that any of the myoplex lite or regular shakes or ML bars do it to me. When I eliminated these from my diet, the gas went away. Not sure what's in them and not in protein powder (which doesn't cause the same effect) or whatever else that might cause it. Good luck -- happens to most of us, so don't worry... -JB > > Hi all, now here's a question I am so embarrassed to have to ask, but I > can't go on any longer without asking you all....you know so much about > everything else, give this one a whirl! > > Ever since the end of week 1 I have had the worst gas in my life! Guest guest
Hmmm...that's a good question. I do suppose I eat some soy protein, but not that much. I have some great soy pitas and eat soy meat-substitutes on occasion. I'll keep an eye out for that, though. Thanks a million! >From: nichole77083 <no_reply > >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Is it that protein that makes me >feel this way? >Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2003 19:44:15 -0000 > >what kinds of protein are you eating? Guest guest
Wow, I am so glad that I got 3 responses in 2 minutes to that question! It's not that I am so much bothered by it...not like it's my favorite thing in the world or anything, but as long as it's normal and I'm not about to combust, I'm fine with it. I will try to see if toying with soy/flax/Myoplex (though yesterday was the first time I had a Myoplex Lite shake) will help in reducing this problem for awhile...at least during the work day! Thanks a million. Have a great day! _________________________________________________________________ The new MSN 8: advanced junk mail protection and 2 months FREE* http://join.msn.com/?page=features/junkmail

Guest guest
I always wondered about that too. Because before BFL I never had this problem - So do what I do and just blame it on the dogs!!!! Guest guest
Glad to hear it! Well, no, I mean, I'm not glad per se, but I'm glad to know I'm not alone in this protein overdose! Have a good one >From: " ibimichelle " <mtomson@...> >Reply- > >Subject: Re: Is it that protein that makes me >feel this way? >Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2003 20:21:31 -0000 > >-that is SOOOOOO funny! Guest guest
I haven't read all the responses to this question yet but I read somewhere that it is undigested protein that causes this. The same article stated that the body can only process about 20 grams of protein at a time so if you eat more(I'm fairly guilty of this myself) some will go undigested instead of being used to build muscle. Guest guest
I had terrible gas for almost all of my first challenge. I ate dairy enzymes, other enzymes, pro-biotic pills...nothing seemed to work. Then one day, it just disappeared. I have absolutely no idea why. Before BFL, I was a low protein vegetarian. So, maybe my body has just learned how to digest it? Is it that protein that makes me feel this way? Hi all, now here's a question I am so embarrassed to have to ask, but I can't go on any longer without asking you all....you know so much about everything else, give this one a whirl! Ever since the end of week 1 I have had the worst gas in my life! Even when I did weight watchers and was eating inordinate amounts of fiber it wasn't this bad. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I will say straight away that before BFL I could easily have gone days, weeks even, without eating as much protein as I eat on a day on BFL - make that in a meal! Could it be my body trying to deal with the sudden increase in protein I am eating? Am I just nuts? Please advise...my tummy, my coworkers and myself will all thank you! _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
