I while ago I wrote down a list of the reasons I wanted to get in shape/lose

weight. Whenever I feel like giving up I review them. Mine are below. I

was everyone else's reasons were. You don't have to do 100.. the top 10

would good lol

101. To not get diabeties (needles are NOT fun!)

100. To not get heart disease

99. To have energy!

98. To look good in a bathing suit

97. To gain confidence

96. To feel sexy in bed *blush*

95. To wear skinny jeans and...

94. Tuck in my shirt!

93. To wear my black velvet dress

92. To wear a sleeveless sundress

91. To fit in 's secret, and look good!

90. To run 3 miles without stopping to pass out

89. To not have my ankles and knees hurt in the morning

88. To not have extra chins

87. To like getting my picture taken

86. To go to the beach and not feel self-conscious

85. To have the energy to travel with my sweetie when we retire

84. To say yes when our neighbors with a pool invite us over

83. To have great legs

82. And perky boobs.. okay at least perkier!

81. And a flatter stomach

80. And a good butt

79. To never have to shop in the " women's " section again

78. Or buy something because it fits, not because I like it

You put a lot of thought into that. Bill ought to see it.

You should put that on the BFL website under one of his headings,

maybe the guestbook, or inspiration or something. My reasons for

doing this aren't nearly as well formed or thought out:

1. I wanted to look like those fitness magazine covers that I was

forced to look at in the grocery line

2. I was tired of all the flab that wouldn't go away no matter how

much exercise I did

3. I want to turn back the hands of time

4. I don't want to die young because I didn't take care of myself, I

have young children who need me

5. I want to be able to appear imposing to strangers so that folks

won't take advantage of me either physically or intellectually(it

works too)

6. I want to be able to do as much physical labor myself without

getting exhausted or wimping out and asking someone else to do it

7. I want to sleep soundly and well

8. I don't want to have to hide at the swimming pool

9. I want to like what I see in the mirror

10. I want my husband and children to get the best " me " they can

Okay, here goes....

1) To not have bilateral knee replacement surgery like my mom.

2) To decrease my cholesterol and my chance of dying of heart

disease (the number ONE killer of women)

3) To decrease my chances (family history) of diabetes and all the

horrible effects of that disease.

4) Because I didn't want my children to have a fat mom

5) I don't want my hubby to have a fat wife

6) I got tired of huffing and puffing up the stairs in my house

7) I want to wear all the really cute and sexy clothes that's out

there.

8) I want to look like those fabulous fitness models, weighing 150

pounds with leg and abs of steel!

9) I wanted to get rid of the developing double chin and chipmunk

cheeks.

10) I want to run a 5K race.

I love your list. My eyes were welling up. How are you doing by

the way? Can you check any of these things off--like can you tuck

in your shirt? do you mind having your picture taken?

Here are a couple of mine:

--To be an example to my children

--To make my husband proud to be with me (I have this fantasy of

being at a party or something like that and seeing my husband from

across the room taking great pains to point me out to someone--

" there she is, the pretty blonde in the black dress "

--To have people want nutritional and fitness advice from me

--To not always be looking for a pillow on a sofa with which I can

hide my stomach.

--To breeze through my next pregnancy with energy and have someone

say to me " You're all baby. " With my other two babies I was never

the cute pregnant lady.

Anyway, courage to all of you. Remember, " a moment on the lips,

forever on the hips "

Why I continue BFL (in no particular order)...

1. Because it makes me feel fantastic.

2. Because I love it when people tell my husband he has a hot wife.

3. Because I can eat a whole lot more than those women who just do

cardio all the time.

4. Because I know if I really want that bite of ice cream, I can wait

until Free day and have it without guilt.

5. Because I'm so proud that I can refuse all " birthday breakfast "

items at work without a second thought and I relish in the jealousy

my coworkers have of my restraint.

6. Because I want to be a role model.

7. Because I don't want to be that person I was before.

8. Because junk food isn't all it's cracked up to be.

9. Because I don't want the family love handles/butt/etc when I'm

older.

10. Because this is the way everyone should live.

I've check off a few of them :) still hate having my photo taken lol

I just took 6 week pics.. not too much change from the four week ones. I

can see differences mainly in my back.. but hey.. for 2 weeks, I'll take it!

Still haven't lost on the scale or very much by way of the tape measure.

Beth,

You are making very good progress, you can literally see the

firming up in every area on your body. I see change from week

4...just look at how differently the clothes fit ;)

You are so inspiring, don't ever give up!

thanks! I really need to see/hear this because it's not showing up on any

I agree with Tink. Remember the paper towel theory? It's happening,

it just isn't as noticeable as it is going to be a little farther

down the road. Keep up what you're doing and be patient. I can also

see the firming and tightening. The visceral and intramuscular fat

stores are the ones that will burn first, then the subcutaneous is

later. You're doing fine.
