Guest guest
So far, the only medical reference made to brain polarization I have found refers to correcting a psychoemotional disturbance. This causes me to believe that my hunch was right, and that this term refers to the predominant brainwave frequencies of the individual lobes of the brain. Each lobe has many lesser frequencines at all times, but the " predominant " frequency of the lobes, and whether or not they are acting coherently, in harmony, are determinants of brainstate. As you read this you are in beta, for most folks probably between 14-18 Hz in a state of alertness. Delta is sleep, 0-4 Hz. Etc. Frequency determines brainstate. Balance of the electrical activity in the brain, vis a vis one lobe to the other, is called homeostasis, and is concurrent with health. Any and all diseases and disorders have imbalances of electrical activity in one or both lobes. For instance, anxiety/panic/depression are a symptom of too much electrical activity in the right frontal lobe of the limbic brain, and are easy to ameliorate, IMO. When something is polarized everything goes one way. So, to apply this to ALS, I would think it would mean one side of the brain had gained some form of dominance, or the other may be spinning in neutral, as with ischemic neurons after stroke, they aren't dead, but they aren't doing anything either. I have asked on another list that might have an answer to this to corroborate. To achieve homeostasis in the brain there are several methods, and combining as many as possible, even overlaying them, makes them more potent. If I had a brain disorder that mentioned brain polarization I would use a CES device & either a light/sound, so called flicker machine, or a binaural beat CD with headphones. No need for a MD's scrip for an expensive prescription model CES. The non-prescription models work just as well. It isn't research that makes CES work. L/S machines are non-prescription. CES began around 1914 when the Russians were trying to discover a cure for insomnia. Their generals drank too much vodka had trouble sleeping. No joke! Once EEG's could measure brainwaves, science discovered that healthy people have balanced brains, and the rest of us don't! In over 60 years of intensive research into CES there has never been a negative side effect reported with CES, even anecdotally! There is NO downside to CES! It IS contraindicated for epileptics, stroke victims, pregnant & nursing women, people with pacemakers, etc. Actually, it is probably the best and fastest treatment for petit mal seizures. It definitely helps migraine, which is a seizure and looks identical to petit mal on an occilloscope! There is research that says CES is beneficial for stroke beginning as soon as possible after the trauma that causes the imbalance. Like HBOT, it has been shown to lower the percentage of loss of function. Very little research, but it points in that direction. I have seen two stroke victims of over 10 years duration try a CES and their eyes light up. One was my father, and he could never explain why he believed it, but he believed it helped something bigtime, and it did make him feel better. My father-in-law can't speak, but he is otherwise capable. He's a killer bridge & canasta player. When you ask him if he believes it does him good he is extremely enthusiastic in the positive. It doesn't seem to make much difference the cause of the imbalance, whether is was an old virus or a car accident. CES re-trains the brain to a more balanced state by putting the same tiny current across the lobes, or in 2 parallel lines, front-to-back. This is called brain entrainment. There are different electrode placements that are more effective for different things, but that is beyond the scope of what I'm explaining here. I just wanted to mention it in case anyone reads this and heads off into the sunset. ;-) Binaural beats work on the " frequency following " principle. If you present the brain with a frequency within its operating range that it cannot ignore, it will follow it. Sound & flickering light set the beats. The human ear can't hear below 20 Hz, where these frequencies are, being 0-18. But, it was discovered that if you put, say, 100 Hz in one ear and 105 Hz in the other, that the brain will hear 100, 105 AND 5, or whatever the difference between them is. These are called " binaural beats " and the brain will follow them! lin, if you are interested in pursuing this subject, I will lend you a CES. I have several and only use one at a time. Or I could make you a CD with binaural beats to trick your brain into balance with sound, using a CD walkman. There is no research behind it, but they are legitimate options. In Parkinsonism, for example, it can't cure the problem, but it helps with the tremors. Disease always connotes imbalance. Balancing helps everything in some way. If you want to learn more about CES read Hutchison's Megabrain Power. Actually, it's a good read for people looking for alternative therapies, there are a lot of other types of helpful things for different circumstances. Mike's book is a light-yet-meaty skim over what was available ten years ago. It's old, but still the best primer next to his first book, Megabrain, which goes into more detail of the brain's cellular biology. He's the Ed McCabe of popular neurotechnology. Parenthetically, Hutchison was in a terrible accident over a year ago, almost paralyzed, and it is very gratifying to see people from all over the world come to his aid in different ways, much as they did with Ed. If any of the professionals on the neurotech list have a definite response to the phrase brain polarization, I'll report it here. jim

People were saying it was psychological, and I was saying it was physiological, because the brain " storming " would dissipate after awhile. J. P.S. Lately in particular you seem so well-versed in various alternative practices. Has anything made you sort of hit pay dirt on these natural healing techniques? Guest guest
Dear Jim, Thanks for the great report on CES and brain entrainment. I fooled around with this a few years back, along with a wired-for-sound bed with massive woofers. People were have past life experiences and seeing deceased relatives on that puppy! Best of Health! Guest guest
, Yes, I am referring to CES in re depression/anxiety/panic disorders. It stopped my clinical depression in 36 hours on the day after I got my first machine. It just happened to be the only one with 4 electrodes making 2 parallel currents, front to back, which is what one needs for these disorders. Cross-brain is much less effective for these imbalances, which also involve hypoxia, which may be the reason for the imbalance in the 1st place. My " elevated state of mind " that you perceive may just be clarity of expression. I have a sense of being better centered lately, but it's more a mood than an elevation. But, compliments are always welcome.;-) jim wrote: > Jim, are you referring to CES here? My brother had a monster anxiety > siege during my mother's recent terminal illness. Guest guest
Jim, Please give more info on your " first " machine, where you purchased it and price etc. I have a friend who has severe depression and panic disorders. She is only 18 and has terrible difficulties as a result of her stressful birth. Maybe something like you are describing can help people like her. Guest guest
, No, I don't. I just figured this out, tested & proved it with other friends with depression, anxiety & panic. There is also a pancreatic connection to anxiety syndrome. I know of about 8 people with anxiety syndrome. All have a pain that goes to the pancreas & is relieved by triggerpoint for the pancreatic digestive enzymes at the time of panic attack. Panic is relieved by the triggerpoint for the pancreas. The electrode placement for panic/anxiety/depression is 2 wires bifurcated (split in two, making four). One current from the occipital-mandibular point (the bottom, outside corner bumps under the skull, behind the ears. If you can't figure it out, ask somebody local to touch you there) and the recess under the frontal eminence, above the pupils, above the eyebrows. On both sides, parallel. This puts the same current across both lobes, each from front to back, directly through the frontal lobes where emotions like panic/anxiety/depression reside in the right frontal lobe, behind the right frontal eminence. And, some more seemingly positive personality traits like absentmindedness, happiness, daydreaming about higher mathematic-type things (musicians) are qualities of the left frontal lobes, both frontal lobes referring to the limbic brain. For the uninitiated, overactivity in the left frontal lobes could interfere with achieving success in life (musicians), and would not be positive. It could even be a component of ADD or autism. (I will have to ask some people about that) The use of CES for these conditions is well documented in research. The 4-wire electrode placement for these disorders is my own contribution to the advancement of science. If you need it, try it, you will like it! In 2-3 days you should feel noticeably better. If this isn't clear, we need to talk on the phone. jim Marino wrote: > > Jim, do you have a diagram with the electrode placement? > > P.M. > Re: Re: brain polarization > > > , > > > > Yes, I am referring to CES in re depression/anxiety/panic disorders. Guest guest
KAT, Does your friend have mercury fillings? Mercury toxicity has been linked to severe depression in many cases. Even allergies can be a cause for depression. Not knowing the whole story, forgive my assumptions.Just wanted to raise the points in case it hadn't been addressed. Guest guest
Jim- Have been following your thread on brain polarization. Once treated do you need to keep treating or this is a 2-3 day permanent fix type thing? (I think you are sounding younger, and maybe smarter too. Must be the smart drugs, huh?) ;-) Do those monkey shots really work? :-) ) ) I'm not serious, list, just taking afew liberties with Jim. I Bless You and Bless You for the Goodness of God Which is at Work Within You, Zell
Guest guest
Since most members of this list reply on different matters without changing the subject line, I have lost the thread of your question. I have no idea what you're referring to. ;-) jim c_zell@... wrote: > > Jim- > Have been following your thread on brain polarization. Guest guest
Dear Jim, I have read this message which you sent to Prof Noel , and am wondering where this web-site is on which you posted the information. I am interested in the information on the CES. Thanks for your help! Guest guest
Carol, You are referencing some old information and I don't have any idea what it is. Please contact me off-list and just tell me what you are interested in, so we don't send 300 people a bunch of emails they don't want or need while you and I figure it out. jim Carol wrote: > > Dear Jim, > > I have read this message which you sent to Prof Noel , and am > wondering where this web-site is on which you posted the information. Guest guest
Dear Chuck, Actually, it was my wife who saw her deceased father and it was a revelation to her. She had been stuck in a rut for six years since his death, and this experience finally jarred her out of her rut and enabled her to go on with her life, marry me, and bear our daughter. Guest guest
I have a neighbor who's wife was traumatized simularly by her fathers death. She's remained recluse for over 35 years. She probably could use such a visit to get it behind her. Sorry about the flippant, but that's the way I deal with the world. BTW, your book arrived a few days ago. Thank you.
