vivian in wash. st.

You must feel impotent!! I dont know how much more you can show J. that

you are doing everything you can to help him!! Did the doctor consider

coming to the house? I know that ours wouldnt, but others have done that

with severe cases.

What options did the doc give you if J. continues to refuse to participate

in anything? Leaving you on the lurch seems a bit neglectful on his part, in

my opinion. Is there a youth counselling agency that you can contact and

begin general counselling for him? Perhaps that worker could work with his

resistance to treatment?

Another suggestion is doing some cbt with him. He needs to be exposed to

the doc - that is high on his SUDs scale. Can you build a hierarchy with J.

leading up to his being in the doc's office. Maybe starting with making

appoitments to go, but him not going, only you, and then building gradually

to him sitting in the car, going to the building, going inside... etc. over

a length of time??

I am so sorry for you, YOU ARE NOT TO BLAME!!!

..... big hugs, wendy, in canada
