Permanent Filter with 12-Year Guarantee Never Needs Replaing. Clean Air: Cause for Concern Everywhere Oreck's Five-Stage Purification Process vs. HEPA How it Works: The Five-Stage Purification Process Buy Now " Hi Gingersnap. I bought two of these units several years ago when they had a great sale without really doing my homework or asking the experts. Sounded great. Got 2 for the price of one plus 1/2 of the first. Was totally impressed first two days but then began having some respiratory problems and quickly determined the ionizer was causing me the problems. Turned it off and the machines didn't function as well and started noticing a lot of dust around the machines. Phoned the company, talked to their technical people and was informed I really need to run the ionizer to have an efficient machine as the promised and yes I will have extra dust if I don’t turn it on. There is still a charcoal filter that needs to be replaced quite frequently which they don't mention and the prefilter needs to be washed often. Honestly I didn't think these air purifiers are as good as the claim and certainly not since they are ionizers which produce ozone. Just my petals of thoughts, personal experience and I'd say " buyer be aware " Rosie
Guest guest
Oreck is no good and first time I tried to wash the so called washable whatever that thing was it messed up wires I didn't even see in there. Turned it on and sparks like mad and I unplugged. Called them people and they sent me a label to send back and I did. I had a fear ever since about air purifiers and fire hazard b/c of that. Oreck IMO DO NOT BUY ONE. It does have an inonizer switch to turn off or one but the whole purifier STINKS. Believe me. I had it a couple days and that was enough. Hunter's I have now is way better and way less. I would like to try airistar, but I'm in debt up to my ears.
