Clean up question - Books

I was recently diangosed with mycotoxicosis (thanks for the useful

term, Serena), and have the apparent misfortune of a dual 4-3-53

genotype. I'm currently on CSM and will soon begin treatment for

CoNS.

I'm also preparing to clean up my current environment. I no longer

live in the house where the original mold exposure occurred, but I

still have many of the things that were in that house with me (for a

total of 3 years). I'm trying to figure out what needs to be thrown

away and what can be cleaned and kept. I know the mattress needs to

go, as well as any upholstered furniture, but I'm going to try to

keep wood furniture, keeping in mind that cleaning isn't always

successful (it's frustrating to have only one's subjective reactions

for guidance on whether cleaning works or not, but I guess that's

just how it is).

My question for those of you who've been through this before

concerns books. Are they effective harbors for mycotoxins? Have

any of you suspected that exposure to books was initiating symptoms,

and if so, were you able to clean them or did you ultimately have to

get rid of them? I'm an academic and have a good-sized library;

losing my books would be grossly unfortunate. On the other hand, I

get ill sitting in my office, and I have to get rid of whatever is

causing this, whether my wood desk or the books.

Thanks,
