Guest guest
Hello Everyone I am a new member and have been answering posts but have note introduced myself. I live in CA and was exposed to mold in 1999. I was exposed at work, an older school building. The mold has caused many problems for me as it has for you. I have gone through six sinus surgeries (that is where the mold seemed to hit hard). The fungal infection also caused bacterial infections due to a weakened immune system. I have been on IV antibiotics for several bone infections in the sinus. I, like many of you, have MCS. I do not go into public buildings with two exceptions (my ENT built a new office but used no carpets and zero VOC paint for me and my internist who is is a new office but he purchased a huge HEPA filter and I see him before hours when there is no one in the office but himself and his nurse). I react to everything (foods, fabrics, chemicals, molds, vitamins and supplements, medications, mycotoxins). No one comes into my home unless they put on a tyvek suit to protect me from having molds and mycotoxins brought into my home. I am married but my husband does not live with me because that would require too much at this time for him to make himself safe enough to live with me. I have had a complete hysterectomy as a result of the mold exposure. You may ask how I know that. When I had the hysterectomy, tissues were sent to Dr. Croft for a pathological examination for presence of mycotoxicosis and his report was positive (he also did the same pathology on some sinus tissue and bone from one of my surgeries). Later Dr. Hooper did a new test on my sinus mucous (current from May) and found levels of tricothecene mycotoxin of 11.54 ppb and .02 ppb is considered negative. He then performed the same test on my right ovary that was removed in January of 2003. The level of tricothecen was 25 ppb. I am in the appeal process with workers' compensation. My trial is set for Tuesday, Feb. 7th. I am nervouse because although we have been able to keep me out of the courtroom during the hearings, I am being required to go into the building. It is at least 30 years old. They are accommodating me regarding colognes, fragrances, etc. The big problem is going in safely. I have tyvek suits with hoods and booties. I have gloves. But I do not have protection for my breathing. I have a full face respirator with mold filters bought for me by my employer's insurance company. However, even after all this time (it was purchased in 2004) I still cannot tolerate the chemicals in the rubber, etc. I tried recently wearing it with my oxygen tubing underneath. Within 10-12 minutes I was coughing and gagging. So, I have my suit and will have to settle for my charcoal mask and my oxygen mask which does not fit tightly to my face because it is ceramic. My biggest fear is not the trial itself but getting to the courtroom safely. The trial is scheduled for all day. This seems like an interesting group with lots of discussion.
