Statin Drugs Millions of people take statin drugs to lower cholesterol and now a new study says they might also reduce the risk of deadly infections. Sepsis is a massive infection in the blood stream that is often found in hospital patients. A new 4 year study of 69,000 patients found that those who had been taking statins for cholesterol were less likely to get sepsis.
