One of my latest perfume recipes is an ozonic scent and to create the sealike smell, I created 3 types of accords which I then blended all together. Most of the testers told me that it definitely smells like the ocean and it is a very unusual perfume but I am not sure that I have the dosages right. I am happy to share this with the group and if you are experimenting with this particular recipe, it would be great to have your comments and share more ideas. I am not putting the number of drops because as I said, I still am trying to figure out whether I should improve or alter the recipe. So here is my experiment: 1. SEA ACCORD Sea fennel, lime, clary sage, petitgrain, oakmoss, algae (seaweed), basil, cajeput 2. FLORAL ACCORD lavender, neroli, cinnamon bark (only 1 drop), green tea tincture, magnolia, blackcurrant bud, lemon, ylang, cedarwood (Australian), frankincense, gardenia 3. WOOD ACCORD Carrott seed, coriander, copahu balm, sandalwood, patchouli, cinnamon leaf, vetiver, peru balm, cocoa, ambergris tincture I have blended all those accords together...and the result is definitely ozonic but not blue like the commercial ozonic perfumes. I am pretty new at this, but here is what I've found in my search for the ultimate " Oceanic " blend.... JUST FOR A LITTLE NOTE OF MARINE INTEREST, ADD A DROP OF CHOYA NAKH. I purchased a bottle a few weeks ago, and it's rather nice...but note: a little goes a long way (usually just a drop in a 15ml batch, as an accessory note). Choya Nakh has a roasted seashell-type aroma, and is an EO. Imagine sitting on the coast out west under a starry night sky, with a nice fire roaring right on the beach...that is where this EO took me when I added it to my blend. Isabelle's suggestions sound amazing and should be a great help to you as well!!! If you are interested in purchasing some choya nakh, I got 1/6 oz at aftelier.com for $15, plus shipping. After you are there, click on " store " then click on " botanicals " then on " Essential Oils. " Then proceed on with the check out. Since you'll be paying the shipping fee for such a small order, may I also suggest purchasing a couple of Mandy Aftel's " sample sets. " You get 3 choices for $20 total, of solid & liquid perfumes & essences. When you receive them smell them & try them on your skin and analyze them. This will aid in your olfactory education, as Mandy is a legend in natural perfumery, as is Anya. Obtaining samples from perfumers such as these women, for analysis and inspiration have been key in my new found passion for natural perfumery. You may want to seek out some samples of marine type blends from other perfumers as well. You may find elements in each that you like, and will want to use in your own blending. I've found, when you're new to blending, as I am, that learning from the masters is the best way to go (as well as experimenting and reading, reading, and more reading). I hope this helps! Oh, also, as I always say, In Mandy's " Essence & Alchemy " book, in the composition chapter, you will find helpful ratios and blending tips and notes to guide you along your way. Happy Blending! Guest guest
Hi Dawn, With a degree in logistics, I would think you would be in high demand. Have you inquired to major retailers (such as Wal-Mart) if they would be interested in hiring you part-time? If you're interested in getting into the school system, high schools are usually short staffed in the business department. It's difficult to find teachers who are qualified to teach business courses. Schools usually hire business people (with a Master's degree) on the spot. They would allow you to take classes to get your teaching certificate while you are teaching. I personally know a couple people who have gone this route. You are usually allowed two years to acquire a teaching certificate. Sara Need some advice I am normally just a reader on this group and I love the support you give each other, but I noticed the conversation lately has been on marriage and I am looking for someone who has been in my situation or someone who can just give some advice. I just left my emotionally and verbally husband of 6 years who really could not accept the fact that his son would never be "normal." We have two kids, my son who is 6 and my daughter, 18 months. I am medically retired from the military so I am bringing in a little money and right now with child support and spousal support I am making ends meet. The reality is that I will have to go back to work. My son has behavior issues and is nonverbal so typical daycares will not work. I have a Master's degree in Logisitics but cannot image a job in that career field that would be flexible enough for me. I have a GI Bill so I can go back to school. I feel I will need to do something in the school system so I can be on the same schedule as my kids. With no schools in the summer and short school days, I feel I would just be working to pay for someone to watch my kids. Are there any other single mom's out there? How are you doing it? Any ideas for jobs that would be flexible enough to take care of my kids? Any advice would be helpful. I spend many nights lying awake worrying about our future, but I know I had to leave my marriage. Dawn
Guest guest
Dawn I have been a divorced Mom for 8 years now. Do you have a support system? Any family or friends that may be able to help you out watching your kids? Or are you on a program that will pay for respite care for at least your son? I once watched my son's friend & was paid thru his respite program. My mom now does this for my son. For me, I worked in retail & it gave me some flexibility, but I had my parents babysit so I can make ends meet. Just for some extra money, I sell some of my craft stuff on ebay. I would look into Sara's suggestion. Hope this helps you some. Guest guest
Hi Dawn, When my marriage broke down I had been out of the workforce for 10 years. Previously I had been in Upper Management in a Merchant Bank earning a very good salary. My experience had basically gone out of the window and some of the equipment that I had used is now only seen in Museums. I quickly realised that I would need to be re-trained. I also came from an abusive relationship so my self esteem was rock bottom, I had gained weight due to the anti-depressant medication I was on. I needed to do something as was just starting his first year at school. I took on a paper delivering job, didn't pay much but gave me the reason to excercise and a little bit of self esteem. From there I was promoted to Area Supervisor, a regular income and the freedom to work my own hours. I am now a book seller, I work my own hours, I'm free to drop everything if I'm needed at school and I can catch up another day. It provides a regular income and I don't have to work school holidays if I don't want to. I had no selling experience just my people skills and it's not what I would like to be doing by right now it's the only job that gives me the flexibility to be at my son's side if he needs me. I had to look outside of the square and started on something that required no experience. Good luck I hope you find the right job for you. Regards Debbie, Sydney Australia. Guest guest
You should definitely see an endo, since it is the endos who know how to adjust meds for the test. Bindner From: cowdoc@... <cowdoc@...>Subject: Need some advicehyperaldosteronism Date: Monday, November 23, 2009, 4:47 PM I heard back from the cardiologist today about my aldo/renin ratio question. After reviewing my results and my CT scan he is still not convinced I have PA. Again CT showed normal adrenal glands. Aldo was 4.9 and renin was <0.15 with a normal cortisol. Which the way I figure it a ratio of 33. We did not do any special prep stuff prior to the test. I am only having a few blood pressure flares since being on Nadolol and Cozaar. My biggest question is should I ask for a endo consult? I don't want to go over board but I don't want to miss anything either. Guest guest
What would be your suggestions for protein in a smoothie. I am unable to swallow anything thicker than cream. I made some wild mushroom soup and thinned it down but it had tiny bits it it. I gave that to my husband and I put mine back in the Vitamix and whirred it until it was just a liquid. That I could get down if I ate it carefully and slowly and not too much at a time. The mushroom soup had onion, carrot, celery three kinds of mushrooms and the soaking water of t he I was pondering whirring up equal parts of beans and rice to form a protein and then adding chicken broth to make a thin soup. I am so glad I bought the Vitamix last year (was it?) for I really need it right now. Thanks for any help you can offer. I am not allergic to anything and I usually eat just normal food.
