Guest guest
The subject header says it. Our landlord (we live in a building with a serious mold problem, stachy, asp/pen, etc.) claims - (although isn't it obvious that they are trying to drive us away from our rent controlled apartment) they want to remediate our apartment (when the whole building needs it..with much of the work probably needing to be done elsewhere..) They have not told anyone else in our building that they may have to move.. (after all, we are the ones who complained, so we *are* the 'problem', right? Even if other apartments need to be remediated too..they clearly don't intend to.) They say we will need to move out for 'three to six months or more' and they have offered us 'up to $1000' to cover our expenses during that time.. (gee, around here that might pay for a hotel for four days and even buy us both dinner on top of that..) They refuse to answer any questions we have tried to ask them about how they plan to remediate. Or on how we could get our stuff decontaminated. We want to know some REALLY good questions to formally ask them to ascertain just how serious they are about this. How could we verify their compliance and the jobs successful completion. How do normal landlords do these things when compelled to? On the record. Any suggestions?
