Tink,

Don't know what to tell you about produce (maybe grow some stuff?) but when you

do go " into town " to do more major shopping maybe you can freeze some things

like the bread items. I can get fresh stuff but still pitas would go bad too

fast. So I freeze them a few together and then put them in my fridge when I run

out (just zap the cold ones in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds)

Tinkle,

Oh man that does suck. And produce here in Ontario is expensive in

alot of spots. But it's awesome produce. :)

I liked s suggestion of growing some. Lettuce and tomatoes

are pretty easy...

But the ham....uhhhh we might have a problem with you making your

own ham! LOL

Tinkle,

I feel your pain. My town is in the middle of nowhere. We have

two stores and one gym. Do you think you can find anything

healthy? We have to drive an hour for ww pitas and tortillas. And

forget extra lean ground beef.....folks around here like " the real

stuff " ...and it shows. Udo's? If I asked about that, they would

commit me. Arrrrghhhh. And they only have lowfat cottage cheese

half the time.....no consistency whatsoever......and don't even get

me started on the gym.....OH, to have choices! I miss my college

town :(. Anyway, just thought your misery may want some company ;).

Tinkle & Tiffiny,

Boy, can I relate! I grew up and went to undergrad in upstate New

York and then my parents moved to a small town in Mississippi and I

wound up in an even smaller town in Mississippi in grad school. What

a shock! It's amazing what sort of produce and grocery selection you

can take for granted. Although I have to admit that I don't think I

have it as bad as you too, and the selection is improving down here

as the town expands. Where are y'all from?

time. I want a watermelon so bad I can't stand it. Won't have any in

around here until next month!! I don't even have a gym here. Just

last year they actually built a walking track around the park LOL.

It has one semi-hill to it. Oh yea, that's a workout. I agree about

the Udo's though.....if I did ask about it, they'd probably tell me

they'd be getting it in on Monday LOL (and they would have NO idea

what I was talking about). It's like this....people look at you

like " Geez, don't she think she's somebody buying all that healthy

stuff " ...Like I have a plague LOL...thanks for the company :)

I was amazed at how high the prices of produce have soared over the

years. Do you have any Farmers markets near you? We get some great

deals at the Farmers Market. Sometimes there isn't a large variety,

so I end up eating the same fruit or veggie for the week, but at

least it tastes good :)
