Guest guest
It really depends on what you want to do with it. I had the top of the line cuisinart and broke the blade assembly trying to make a smoothie with frozen strawberries. If you know you are always going to be using un-frozen fruits and veggies and stuff like protein powder then a Kitchen Aid is likely fine. Having said that, I would describe my experience with the VitaMix to be " liberating. " I have been making homemade pancakes, hummus, soup and smoothies, and I average about 2 uses a day. I see in your screen name " runner_dude. " I am an avid runner and endurance athlete and I will NEVER go back to a standard blender. It is one of the best tools in my arsenal to go longer, faster and harder. I am not going to talk your ear off about it, but as I said earlier- If you plan to be cautious and baby your machine, then anything will work (even a $30 Oster or a replacement $10 blender you mention). My stand mixer is a KitchenAid and it is a great product. I am sure the blender would be fine, but believe me, the VitaMix is on a truly different level altogether. You never have to strain whole fruit/ veggie smoothies with your teeth!
