Hi Sheila,

No, I didn't state question very well.

I'm trying to take figures you have been talking about $165, $150 per

sq foot and trying to picture what that would translate into in money

for a particular size house. I was wondering do you could sq feet of

construction of only livable space?

A 2,000 sq ft home is pretty typical size home. I've measured my own

home and it measures about 2,000 sq feet. HOWEVER, I only measured

the living areas of the house, DR, LR, KIT, BATHS, BEDROOMS, HALL,

ETC. I did not include in measurement of basement. If one planned to

build a 2000 sq ft house, would living areas be a lot smaller than my

current home because sq ft of building would include things like

basement.

50% comes in because my basement measures exact same size as my first

floor, as I assume would most people's basements. If I had to include

basement measurement, my home would be 3,000 square feet to

construct. Is anyone following me??

I guess I'm trying to figure out would it cost me 330,000 to build a

new house about the size of house I have now. If I have to pay for

basement, that would add another 1000 sq ft about, so cost would be

close to 500,000, so much different.

Thanks, Barb

> Are you saying the basement would be 1/2 sq ft of the $165 per sq

ft? Cuz many people say we can finish off basement for 1/2 of what

this new builder says it will cost?
