protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or

death from more than 15,000 types of consumer products under the

agency's jurisdiction. Deaths, injuries and property damage from

consumer product incidents cost the nation more than $700 billion

annually. The CPSC is committed to protecting consumers and families

from products that pose a fire, electrical, chemical, or mechanical

hazard. The CPSC's work to ensure the safety of consumer products --

such as toys, cribs, power tools, cigarette lighters, and household

chemicals -- contributed significantly to the 30 percent decline in

the rate of deaths and injuries associated with consumer products

over the past 30 years.

This is a very interesting article. In fact this is the first time I

read anywhere that somebody admitted that a mass-produced product

other than food is contaminated with mold.

I have know this for years, since some of the worst contaminations

were introduced into my house by new soaps bought directly from a

supermarket or even pharmacy. There is a lot of information about such

products regarding MCS and how people can't stand the smell, but I

can't remember reading about mold in them.

The only thing they didn't quite honestly explain here was how to

remediate the problem. For extremely sensitive people like myself, if

an object is very moldy, only stopping using it won't solve the problem.

KC, do you have more URL's to articles such as this one? It would be

very useful for me to show them to some people!
