Cross posting.

Someone asked again what the difference is in made from scratch soaps are

and the ones on the market and the M & P stuff. We have talked about this

several times over the years on the lists and this is the conclusion that I

have come too. My thinking is from seeing the amazing difference that this

soap can make in a persons skin that is having a tough time with the mass

marketed soap including the so called glycerin soaps. And also just how

wonderful it is for the skin of those that just have the normal effects of

drying soaps. Watching rashes disappears and spots heal that the Drs. had

not idea how to help. All seemingly due to the harshness in many of the

soaps out there.

Natural soaps are what we make from scratch. They are as close to a natural

soap as one can get without using things like Soapwart and water to clean.

Well that is really not a soap, but does seem to clean without lots of

rinsing. Even though the lye that we use is not produced by nature, it is a

catalyst to make soap. Without it we could not do that. It does not matter

if you use FO's or EO's to scent your soap, you are still making as close

to a natural soap as you can make using either. I have customers that can

not use anything with any scent at all in it or they can get really sick so

I make them an unscented soap using Cocoa Butter that has its natural scent

and it alone gives a nice mild warming aroma to the soap. For others they

can only use soap with EO's in them and they only purchase those soaps. And

for most they can use anything with FO's or EO's. But in all cases they are

very pleased at how their skin feels because of the nature of the soap

being so gentle to the skin no matter scented or not. So...when someone

asks me if my soap is a natural soap. I tell them it is as close to a

natural soap as one can get and because of this and the ability to adjust

what goes into the soap I can control how much moisture that will be in the

soap and other properties that can help the skin.

This is what I feel in my heart is the best way to explain the big

difference in the soaps that are marketed out there. Hope this was of help

to those that might have a question about this.
