Guest guest
Now that sounds gross! Tastes nasty and the psychological part of knowing what it was meant for! Ick. But would rather do that than drink a aspartame cocktail! My most recent episode with aspartame, which I had almost forgotten about, happened a few years ago when my nurse practitioner wanted me to change allergy meds, and suggested a over the counter one. I should have been suspicious when it was labeled " dissolves " on the tongue. I bought it without a thought, because she recommended it (and I did not see anything to worry about on the box label). Took my first dose and got a violent headache. Went to the bottle and read the miniscule fine print, not on the box, but on the tiny bottle, and YES, it contained aspartame. I took it back to Sam's Club and complained. I asked the person helping me return it if she could tell if it contained NutraSweet/Aspartame. She could not, I had to point out that it was not on the outer box (which you would read in the store) but only on the tiny bottle. They quickly gave me my money back and she even showed a manager. Both said it was not right that it was not on the box label. Learned a lesson there. No more dis-solvable tablets for me, as they sweeten them to make them palatable, often with NutraSweet. It makes me suspicious that in the beginning they put a proud logo on each product that contained NutraSweet, and now you have to carry a magnifier and open a box to find out if it is in there. Do they no longer want you to realize it is in there? Velda On 1/29/2012 6:27 PM, wrote: > I had a violent allergic to aspartame when it first came out and was given to me in a medication! I have avoided all artificial sweeteners since-dont ever want to experience such a thing again. I know it was the aspartame, as I had taken the medicine previously, but reacted only after they changed the formula and added aspartame. Since the hospital had a record of the reaction, when I needed a barrium swallow for a test a year later, I had to DRINK the barrium ENEMA solution to avoid the aspartame-same stuff in both I guess, but they don't " flavor " what goes in the other end, lol. > > > > >>> Very interesting video.
