Guest guest
Hello All - I just had to share my fun day with all of you because all of you are so wonderful and kind in sharing your knowledge with everyone else. I am getting ready to make my first batch of soap this coming weekend after spending the last two weeks reading, reading and reading some more here and just about every place I could find on the Net. Today I picked up 's " Soapmaker's Companion " and Melinda Coss's " Handmade Soap Book " from our libray. I had a grand time at the Goodwill and found some excellent candidates for simple soap molds at 25 cents each - microwave cupcake plates with 6 slots per plate! But the most exciting part of my day was the trip to the Middle East Grocery Store. I found 100% Palm Oil packaged as a cooking product named " Ghee " - 34 ounces for $2.79! They also had Coconut Oil in their cooking product section - 18 ounces for $3.25! They had a lovely assortment of other bottled oils, too, but I passed for today. I've rendered 20 lbs. of beef fat, have 2 lbs. of lard, 3 lbs of Crisco, some olive oil, some castor oil and 2 new bottles of Red Devil. A little oatmeal, some raw honey, some lavender EO, some seaweed, some lovely opal basil in the garden at the moment, and a beautiful batch of lemons. I think I'll be busy for a bit, LOL. I have a digital scale on its way to me. I dug out my stick blender. Got my bowls, pitchers, lots of iced tea and the heart of a gardener - which says if it didn't work the first time it just means you're supposed to try it again! Thanks so much to all of you for your generous spirits and the loving way you share knowledge. I feel like a little girl again, just like I did the first time my grandmother taught me how to thread my own needle. Some 40 years later I quilt, I sew and I tailor. G'bless & Wish Me luck! Beth sew2pcs " In my heart I am a 30 year old hippie, in my knees I am a 75 year old earth mother, on my birth certificate I am somewhere in between. Always I am a gardener, grateful to remember that when all else fails, I just breathe. "
