Guest guest
A study published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases is the first to look at the prevalence of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus and the methicillin-resistant strain or MRSA. Of the nasal samples taken, 32% contained staph bacteria, with 1%, or about 2 million Americans, carrying the antibiotic-resistant strain. Though they may never get sick, these carriers are considered more likely to develop an infection, and are likely spreading the resistant strain to others unknowingly. Guest guest
It amazes me that less than 2% of the general population is thought to carry the staph infection, yet such a high percentage of moldies have it. I suspect the general population numbers may be way off, because so few doctors do the nasal cultures. They aren't going to find it, if they aren't looking for it. healthier4all <Healthier4All@...> wrote: A study published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases is the first to look at the prevalence of the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus and the methicillin-resistant strain or MRSA.
