Guest guest
A few days ago, I sent an email to QVC inquiring about the soundproof device they were using while making soup so you can hear the presenter when they demonstrating other recipes on the Vitamix and they said they would check into it and get back to me. I will let you know when they respond. DD > > I would like to have one. Guest guest
I received this answer back from QVC today...it looks like maybe if more people requested the soundproof device they may carry it. Hello, Thank you for emailing QVC. Unfortunately the acrylic cover that you saw used on air to cover the Vitamix was for on air demonstrations only. This helps to lower any distrubance that may occur with the microphones on air. Since customer satisfaction is our top priority here at QVC, we always appreciate any suggestions or comments from our customers. I have forwarded your interest in seeing something like this offered for the Vitamix to the appropriate department. I hope this will be helpful for you. It has been a pleasure assisting you and we look forward to serving you again in the future! Guest guest
In one of the videos at vitamixlady.com, the guy suggests placing a folded towel under the machine to help muff sound. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to. I would like to do something for ear protection. Having little ear plugs handy might be a healthy practice. Guest guest
Found the sound proof covers at this site. Scroll all the way to the bottom. They're about $150. http://www.everythingkitchens.com/catalog.aspx > > the sound of the VM5200 on high speed is really piercing and hurting my family's ears > > any suggestions? >
Guest guest
A little more expensive than the last one suggested but I like the idea of the flip top port and that it fits most sizes...now to save the money for same!!! http://www.jlhufford.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=por1581 DD > > the sound of the VM5200 on high speed is really piercing and hurting my family's ears > > any suggestions? >
Guest guest
While I agree that the Vitamix is a bit noisy, but to me it is not noisy enough to invest another $200 in. These are much cheaper http://www.amazon.com/Apothecary-Products-Flents-Please-50-Pair/dp/B001J4HB1C/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8 & qid=1328308603 & sr=8-2 if you have to have ear protection. Guest guest
To reduce noise from the Vitamix, you can put the base on a computer mousepad or folded dish towel. I just leave the room, lol. > > > > the sound of the VM5200 on high speed is really piercing and hurting my > family's ears > > > > any suggestions? > > >
Guest guest
I LOVE these ear plugs:http://www.amazon.com/Macks-Ear-Seals-Earplugs-1pr/dp/B000GCI9CIWhen I go shooting at the range, I used to use the foam kind that you mentioned Tom, but they are so hard to get in and out that I was THRILLED to find the Mack's Ear Seals. They are re-useable and SO EASY to push in and out!!! Guest guest
I think this is actually the same thing; the other one had a flip top as well. I'm not sure from either description if they will work with the 5200, though. It looks like it's been designed for the commercial series blenders. > > > > the sound of the VM5200 on high speed is really piercing and hurting my family's ears > > > > any suggestions? > > >
Guest guest
You could try the kind of ear protection people use for target shooting. Or those rubber ear plugs. Guest guest
Yes I was thinking along those lines too. Guest guest
I would be careful about the towel thing, it might overheat. On Fri, Feb 3, 2012 at 6:09 PM, apricot855 <apricot043@...> wrote: Yes I was thinking along those lines too. Guest guest
I don't need the cover just to protect my ears it is to reduce the noise factor because I live in a condo and don't want the neighbors complaining as fine would be more than the $200 cost of the cover.
