Sorry to have to disagree.

It is doubtful that whatever ozone is emitted from an ionic breeze

will exist past the first bend in the air duct. Ozone is so " fragile "

it will revert quickly to oxygen in the air turbance caused by the

first bend in the duct works. The Ionic Breeze is known as a

precipitator which captures fine dust on its electrostatic plates.

Clever??? Not really. It sounds good, but it doesn't work that way.

Alot of your ionizers do produce ozone, which is not good. In order

for them to have an affect on mold spores, from what I understand

would have to be at extremely high levels, unsafe for human beings and

of course way above EPA safe level standards. If you kill the mold you

still have the mycotoxins and this is what gets you sick. Most

ionizers don't work properly to begin with and you definately don't

want to use any ozone purifiers in an occupied building. It can cause

lung damage and further irritations to other symptoms, especially in

infants, where their lungs are still forming. Your best bet is a HEPA

filter that does not put any other chemicals into the air. This is the

safest way to go, until proven research (done by an indepentant lab)

says otherwise, and right now it's not there. By using some of the

other purifiers it may only compound the problem.

Lucky for you Ionic Breezes are totally useless and produce negligable

ozone. Ozone is extremely toxic to breath, and I can tell you from

personel experience that killing mold with a strone ozone producer is

the last thing you should do. It can kill mold, or threaten it,

causing the mold colony to release a massive amount of mycotoxin,

quite possible killing you, or at least rendering your home and all

your belongings toxic to you for the next 5 years. Believe me, I know

all about this one.

As others have already said, killing the mold doesn't get rid of the

mycotoxins. Killing doesn't get rid of the proteins that cause the

allergic reaction. So the mold should be removed, dead or alive.

The ozone will be long gone by the time it gets to the primary mold

in the duct systems and it won't be enough to do much of anything

after hitting the vent slots and inside the ducts. If there is growth

on the A/C coils - of most concern - no amount of ozone will kill

anything below the top of the surface and it will not remove any of

it.

If there is still mold left in the duct system then have the duct

cleaning company come back and finish the job they were supposed to

do. Check to see if they are NADCA members following the ACR 2005

standard www.nadca.com. It has a cleanliness standard and

verification procedure. Also negotiate with them to meet you

individual and specific needs.

Unfortunately, this is another example of a doctor not really

understanding something outside their area of expertise, just like

his is outside of mine.
