Another common misconception is that DMPS depletes copper and/or zinc. While there have been occasional reports of elevated levels of copper and zinc appearing in the urine after DMPS administration, these experiments were not well described. This also contradicts the stability constants determined in vitro. DMPS has its greatest affinity for mercury.

Oral application: Approximately 50% of orally administered DMPS is rapidly absorbed in the GI tract and is excreted via the kidney. The highest urinary concentration occurs 2-3 hours after oral administration. Neither DMPS nor its metabolites are detected 12 hours after oral administration in animal models.

WOW! Thanks Mandi, this site is great! I found there the answer:

" DMPS also complexes with arsenic, antimony, bismuth, cobalt and

copper. The complex formation with the following ions is weak: gold,

iron, manganese, molybdenum, thallium, tungsten, and zinc. DMPS does

not react with calcium or magnesium. "
