From NPR'S Morning Edition, January 12, 2006 · A study in the journal

Nature has linked widespread frog extinctions in Central and South

America to a fungal epidemic triggered by increasing temperatures. Frog

species began disappearing from the region in the late 1980s.

Species are vanishing as deadly fungus flourishes in changing climate.

The fungus is Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, a chytrid

fungus; the disease is causes is Amphibian chytridiomycosis.
