I just joined in this forum (hi, !) and wanted to join in the

Ionic Breeze chorus.

Here's an EPA article about ozone generators:

http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/airclean.html; and a discussion of indoor

air cleaning devices in general

http://www.epa.gov/iaq/pubs/residair.html.

Some organizations certify them: http://www.aham.org/;

http://www.cadr.org/; http://www.lungusa.org/site/pp.asp?

c=dvLUK9O0E & b=22542.

Indoor ozone is, in itself, an allergen – see

http://www.epa.gov/air/oaqps/eog/ozonehealth/population.html. I'd

ask myself if the cure is worse than the problem. I know that more

recently manufactured Ionic Breeze devices claim to have an Ozone

Shield feature; I have no idea how effective that is.

In 2001, Sharper Image sued Consumer Reports for its finding that the

Ionic Breeze was 'quiet but ineffective'. Sharper Image's complaint

was deemed a SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation)

and was dismissed under California's anti-SLAPP statutes. See

http://money.cnn.com/magazines/fortune/fortune_archive/2004/12/13/8214

228/index.htm.

Personally, I don't think an air purifier is a good substitute for a

proper remediation and good HEPA filters in the HVAC.

Hey Cyn,

It's nice that you can join us and very happy to have you here. I'm

sure over time you'll be able to enlighten us on alot of things that

may be happening or taking place at your end. One very important

thing, don't forget this is an open forum board. We have many walks

of life in here from all industries, they watch, they don't join in.
