Guest guest
Dr. Mac.... This could open a whole realm of discussion. Briefly, the exam findings are the objective results of range of motion, reflex findings, motor function, lab-xray etc, such as are measurable by any similarly trained examiner. "Normal Limits" are defined in a host of standard texts. "+" for pain as a parameter for diagnosis, let alone justification for treatment, has extensive commentary and often conflicting opinion. OBCE has several extensive documents defining how to determine evaluation of this type of clinical question. IMHO, it is essential to evaluate the interrelated history, complaints (subjective component) and exam findings (objective component), which all affect your determination of what "WNL" would be expected in a given instance..... "WNL" to me, means there are no non-normal findings related to the various components of physical exam of that particular body function. Hope this helps. J.
