Pulling for you... Congrats on your decision... My Larry is determined to do

Atkins which makes me even more determined to " beat " him during my first

challenge... He can't really follow it anymore, so I don't worry so much... but

ack!!!

Starting 2nd Challenge for the 4th(ish)

time in 2 years...(long)

Hello, I've posted to this board off and on (mostly off) for the

past 2 years. I finished my 1st Challenge in August of 2001, and

even posted my pictures here. Since then, I have started my 2nd

Challenge about 4 or 5 times with no success. I think that it is

hard for me now because my husband has had no interest in doing

another challenge (he helped tremendously with the 1st one). It's

hard to cook a healthy dinner after a long day in a stressful job,

and a work out. It's easy to give in to him when he says, " Let's go

to Taco Bell " .

Anyway, we are planning a trip to Phoenix the first week of July.

So, I need to be in swimsuit shape. Fortunately, I have not gained

any weight back, technically (gained it back, lost it after I

started running regularly). But, I was so desperate to lose these

last 10 lbs that I did Atkins for a little over a week. Then,

yesterday I read an article that re-confirmed how freaking horrible

it is for you (women especially) and I vowed last night to stop,

then ate Pizza Hut for dinner. ;) I will start my 2nd C again

Monday.

Wow, I am long winded this morning. Sorry! Basically, I am looking

for support here. This group was great the first time, and I hope

to get the same encouragement this time. I know I will - I am

already encouraged by the " poster girl " . :)

Have a great day!

Hi! I'm new. :) I live in Ontario, Canada, I'm 23 years old and on my

very first

challenge. It can be challenging when your SO isn't doing the program

with you.

I asked Dan to help me stay on track. Not to offer full fat food until

free day.

He's following the nutrition somewhat but he's waiting until I get over

my two

weeks before he starts the weight training. We have a 3 year old little

girl

Zoey, so for both of us to be so sore is not feasible at the same time.

This

way he can help me heal and then I can be there for him when it's his

turn. :)

Where are your photo's? I've looked through most but it 's nice to have

a face

to a name! :)

Welcome back!

Tink :)

THanks, Danna. My husband was/is doing Atkins, and I feel the same

way. The thing that really made me try it is that we know a couple

that did it, and the female dropped 20 pounds in a little over a

month. She looks great, so I folded and tried it. But, I have come

to my senses and realize that health is the most important thing,

and I do not want to put myself at any greater risk for osteoporosis.

We'll show our husbands what's best (and make them jealous with our

Free Days!)

Hi TInk,

My pics are in photo album 5 or 6, I think. I went by DesertRuby

then, so I'm not suprised that you couldn't find them. :)

Hi Tigerlee,

One thing stood out to me in your original post. (Paraphrased) You

said after a long stressful day you're hungry and when your husband

says " Taco Belle " you were like " let's go " .

I think that's key to you not being as successful as you'd like. You

let yourself get hungry. Then by the time you get home you're

famished and tired and your will power in almost non-existant.

That's where the planning part would come in handy for you. If

you're not fueling every few hours, you'll get hungry, and then

you're ripe for anything to fill your poor hungry tummy.

I don't like apples at all (and whined a LOT about them during my

first challenge, as I'm sure some of the oldies can attest to), but I

learned to keep some of them, and some sliced chicken breast or some

protein bars on me at all times, in case I got hung up some where and

unable to get back to where I could fix an authorized meal.

I finally learned to get organized and cook a lot of meals on Sunday

and freeze them and then I'd have the whole week lined out. I

intersperse frozen authorized meals with apples and cc, apples and

turkey breast, etc etc.

I also bake some of mrsbishwits homemade protein bars and stuff.

It really really helps if you've got " emergency rations " on your

person at all times. Even just a protein bar in your purse.

Hope that helps.

You are so right. I need to be more organized in order to succeed.

When I did my first challenge, I would make Rayleen's Jello, some

protein pudding and grill 5-6 chicken breasts on Sunday. Then, I

would keep bars in my desk. I've just been lazy! This sunday I am

going to get prepared so that my first week is a success - I'll take

it one week at a time.

Can you direct me to the bar recipe? I used to know where those

were, but it's been a year at least since I looked at them.

Thanks!

You can do this! It sounds like you are determined

to get back on the horse and ride to another goal! :)

I'm going to pick up some of the ziploc tupperware

containers...the sectionals, I think 1 main compartment

and two small, so I can pre-make some stuff and I won't

freak if I'm too tired to make something big. :)

Maybe that would help you too. :)

One thing I do is always carry at least one bar with me at all times.

Plus at work I, too. That way in a worse case scenario at least I

have something to tide me over until the next meal. At work I also

keep a BFL friendly Healthy Choice (usually one of the chicken/turkey

duos with mashed potatoes).

Oh , the thing that sort of leaped out at me from your original

email was the comment about your husband saying let's go get taco

bell and you being too tired to protest. Just a little tip that

worked for me in the past.... my ex-boyfriend was my total downfall,

because he is naturally lean AND works out, and eats like a horse,

anything and everything. Me, I look at cookies and my thighs start

to expand to make room for more fat cells. *wah* Anyway, enough

about me.

What I was going to say is that I would have an imaginary

conversation with him (in my head if there were people around and out

loud if I was alone or in the car, I'm sure I disturbed some people

who saw me doing this as I was driving) where he would say hey let's

go get a bucket of chicken wings and some mashed potatoes, and I

would respond with no thanks, none for me tonight, I am not feelin'

it, I would rather have my chicken and brown rice and salad.

Literally, have the conversation with yourself before it happens in

reality. Then when your sweetie suggests Taco Bell or some other

equally Free-Day-ish food joint, you have already practiced your

pious-BFL response.

Jen from CA

I think they're in mrsbishwits briefcase, but I could be mistaken.

I'll look in my files and folders and see if I can find it!
