Guest guest
Okay, I am going public with my location. I'm in the Bay Area of California. And I have been complaining to my landlord about mold for sveral years, with no action. Now, I have a complaint in with my local Dept. of Building Inspection and my landlord is hopping mad. Also, my building is now flooded, due to a rain yesterday. Nonetheless, they are proceeding with the 'cleanup' which so far is basically being done by teenagers with piercings. They are taking all the moldy drywall and putting it in a pile. NO CONTAINMENT WHATSOEVER. Next week, they plan to start the same thing, in my apartment. Despite my test results, etc. (from the most respected lab in Calif.) They have still not acknowledged that we have mold(!) (we do, " abundant " stachy, " abundant " asp/pen, and several toxicogenic others..) I have been getting very sick with it, and am going to the doctor. I live in rent control and cant afford to move. They are clearly trying to drive me out with toxic terrorism. WHAT CAN I DO? THEY WILL CONTAMINATE EVERYTHING I KNOW and quite possibly make me much sicker than I am. IS THERE ANY LAW THAT FORCES THEM TO USE CONTAINMENT AND TAKE PRECAUTIONS? I am freaking out. I can show you phots if you want. You wouldn't believe it. Also, when that BLACK water in the basement DRIES, what will happen? What will be in it? The last few days have been better BECAUSE IT WAS RAINING.. But I couldnt imagine a way to make more mold spread faster than what they are doing... HELP..
Guest guest
You need to call your local Health Dept. and get someone out there ASAP!!!!! Take pictures if you can. Those poor kids doing the cleanup are going to suffer. Marcie LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: Okay, I am going public with my location. I'm in the Bay Area of California. Guest guest
I did but they say that all they can do is tell landlord to 'get rid of the mold' THEY HAVE NO RULES AS TO *HOW* IT IS DONE! In other words, they seem to be free to do anything they want, which in the case of our landlord is always 'the cheapest possible'. They have ZERO consciousness about safety. In fact, it seems as if they WANT us to suffer.. I told the people doing the cleanup about the need to be careful and they laughted at me.. like I was a nut.. They barely spoke English (my landlord always uses workers who clearly dont understand the dangers of this environment..they need the $10/hour. thinking ahead about things like cancer is a luxury for them.) Seriously, I live under rent control and the 'going rate' for my apartment is around $600 more than I am paying a month. They like 'churning' the tenants.. old tenants moving out and new tenants moving in every two or three years, because it lets them raise the rents.. They hate longterm tenants like me who are cheating them out of what they see to be rightfully theirs.. $2000/month for a two bedroom apartment in a TERRIBLY maintained building (in a fairly nice neighborhood..fortunately, our building is the trashiest looking on the block) Over the last nine years (the time ive lived here) the neighborhood has gone upscale, but they have not maintained it accordingly.. even though they HAVE raised rents.. bigtime.. Guest guest
Save yourself, by any means, forget everything else, money, lawsuits,no amount of doctoring will save you, or inable you to safely live there. Tearing out the drywall could kill or injury you past your ability to recover, even with hospitilization, get out now before it is too late, worry about everything else latter. > > Okay, I am going public with my location.
