Gathering Regrets - Me, too

I am so bummed. I won't be able to get to the gathering either.

Jim broke his hip on July 2nd. For a while we thought that he would be going to

rehab in the Utica area. If he had, I probably could have gotten away for the

day.

Instead, they sent him home last Monday. It's great to have him back here - the

116 mile drive to the hospital was a killer. The re-hab facilities would have

been even farther. But, he still needs a great deal of assistance. There is no

way he can be alone for two days and we don't have anyone to care for him while

I would be gone.

They said it will be 8 to 10 weeks for the bone to heal, several more weeks for

the muscle... and 6 months to a year for recovery. Meanwhile, we've gotten

him a hospital bed, wheelchair, walker, and a bunch of there " aids " . The county

nurse is checking on him every couple of days and we arranged for in-home PT

until he is able to get to out-patient PT. Little by little we are getting the

house more accessible for him.

I am going to miss you all and I was so looking forward to getting away for the

gathering. So - on behalf of those of us who will be missing - you all better

have a blast... enjoy all the awesome food.... the incredible products in the

swap.... all the goodies from the generous suppliers in your goodie bags and

door prizes... and PLEASE posts lots of pics and " reports " on the day!!
