The fungus is the parasite. This is being used in a very focused way. People.

Yes in some circumstances the fungus can be the host but I didn't really think

this group was interested in this aspect of the total biology.

While not all fungi are parasitic, our team uses the term in our research

because our subjects are people. And it is hard to consider these fungi anything

but parasitic. They live on or in the host, take but don't give anything

beneficial, deposit their wastes (mycotoxins) and harm the host at some level.

We find that if we focus on the parasitic nature of the beast we can focus

better on the removal of their ill effects.

I apologize for using a regional term on a non regional group.
