Guest guest
I want to know if the following can be used in smoothies and the best way to use them. yams/sweet potatoes/broccoli-should they be raw or cooked? Also, are there any fruits veggies that are not recommended for using in smoothies, anything that should be cooked rather than raw, etc. I am trying to eat as much raw as possible and I usually shop whatever is on sale. Thanks for all help.
Guest guest
I am no expert but I have used raw broccoli in my smoothies because it is a really healthy veggie but I can't stand the taste. I recommend starting with just a bit and working up!! It does affect the taste but not too much. My favorite smoothie is kale, banana, frozen strawberries, spinach, broccoli, cinnamon, and flax seed. The banana and strawberry hide the taste of broccoli fairly well! Don't know about yams and potatoes, have never tried, but if I were to try it, it would definitely be cooked. Yam might actually be pretty tasty.
Guest guest
Hello ,I LOVE Sweet Potato Soup and Sweet Potato Smoothies and Sweet Potato Ice Cream (but Pumpkin and just about any squash can be substituted) There are a lot of recipes for on Google). I only use squashes in soups or smoothies that have been cooked. There is a Pumpkin Ice Cream recipe in our recipe folder on the links page of our website.I personally prefer my broccoli to be cooked (steamed) before use in a soup. Some use it raw in a smoothie, but I don't like the taste - a lot of others don't mind it at all, so you will have to experiment with that to find out your verdict.
