What do you think?Hi everyone - I don't know if this forward will work, but I

wanted to make sure that everyone who didn't get this e-mail got to see it.

Bill seems to be asking for our " 2 cents " and I know we have plenty!

Plus he'll be on the Wayne Brady show today. I hope everyone can catch it or at

least tape it!

Everyone have a great day!

What Do You Think?

Hi !

I'm writing you this email on my flight from Los Angeles

to Washington, DC. I had a great time in L.A., met a lot of wonderful people,

and they shared a lot of great ideas! And we raised over $6,000 for the Armed

Forces Relief Fund.

Today, Monday, is a travel day. Tomorrow, I am

participating in a meeting at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Over two dozen of the nation's most influential doctors and decision makers will

be working together at an all-day roundtable meeting. We will be focusing on the

issue of childhood obesity treatment and prevention. With nearly four times as

many kids suffering from being out of shape today as just 30 years ago, it is

clear we must take action NOW! Make no mistake, the U.S. Department of Health

and Human Services knows this, and they, too, are serious about transforming

America's fitness.

While in Washington, DC, I will be delivering my report

entitled, " The Great American Transformation: People Who are Making a Change and

Making a Difference in Our Nation's Health. " Included in the report are the

names of all those who participated last year and " donated " pounds of unhealthy

bodyfat by following a safe and sound program of exercise and proper nutrition.

Each person helped not only improve their own health and fitness but also

contributed to the successful achievement of the goal to abolish over a million

pounds of unhealthy bodyfat. We made America healthier and also demonstrated

that when people work together, toward a common goal, extraordinary results are

possible, even probable! I am VERY proud to be presenting this report, on behalf

of all of you who participated, to Secretary Tommy of the U.S.

Department of Health and Human Services tomorrow.

Before I left Los Angeles, I stopped by to see a friend

named Wayne Brady, who's a really nice guy and somewhat of a rising star in

Hollywood these days. He has a national TV show-he's very fun and funny! Anyway,

I joined him on his show to talk about his own efforts to complete the

Body-for-LIFE Program. We got into a pretty good conversation about what to eat

and where so many Americans are going wrong. I noticed that the studio audience

was very interested in what we were talking about, and they wanted more

information and insight. In fact, they asked me questions during commercial

breaks and after the show. I got to thinking...

There should be a show on TV that is all about being

healthy and going strong! A show that is inspiring, uplifting and exciting! A

show that addresses the REAL issues involved with becoming more mentally and

physically fit. No BS. No fads or frauds. A show that tells the TRUTH about

diets and how to really become the healthiest person you can be! I think that is

a show America needs. What do you think? Click here to share your insight and

opinions.

By the way, the show I mentioned above airs tomorrow, the

20th. Click here and then click the " Local Listings " link (in the upper right)

for the times in your area. Remember, you can tape or TiVo the show if you're

going to be at work or in meetings like I am. After you watch the show, please

click here to tell the producers in Hollywood what you think. They really do

want to know! I don't think enough people are speaking out about what they want

to see on TV and so there is a lot of guessing going on in Tinseltown. Please

give them specific input if you care about this topic. For example, do you want

to see inspiring real-life success stories on TV each day to motivate and

encourage you to make changes for the better? (I know I do!) Who do you think

should host the show? Dr. Phil? Oprah? Wayne Brady? Bill ? (I'll do it

IF you want me to.) What about scientific experts as guests on the show as

well-people who know the facts and can help us keep clear about what works and

what doesn't in terms of health and fitness? Please, let me and the producers

know what you think! It matters, A LOT!

Okay... that's all for now! I will report more news in a

few days. For now, take care!

Best,

Bill

P.S. Click here to see where my next two appearances are this

week! I love it when people come out and share their success stories and ideas!

I hope to meet you sometime soon!

OK - there are a few links in there that didn't show up. Here they are...

The first " Click here " about sharing your opinion about the TV show should

The second " click here " about the Wayne Brady show appearance should be

http://tvplex.go.com/buenavista/waynebrady/index.html

The third " click here " to tell producers what you think after watching Wayne

Brady's show should be

The PS at the bottom " click here " for his appearances should be

I hope that helps!

Is there any chance (I know it's unlikely, but worth asking!) that

anyone recorded it on their computer with TV input card?

I recorded it. I am transferring it from my ReplayTV to my PC, then

I will edit it, just to show the Bill part. Once there, I

will let people know its ready, and I can turn my PC into an FTP

server for downloading it.

If you don't understand what and FTP server is, send me a note:

I think its very convenient for the press to ignore this statement.

I think he's wrong to say it wasn't watered down when they counted 1 year olds in their study and used speech/lang problems as endpoints.

I think here is a guy as nicely as he can saying --we need more testing b/c its possible, and yet the press/media isn't running that.

And there is another crime.

Hi, Angie

I also live in Canada. Your CCAC is probably the same as HomeSupport here in

BC? They've cut out meal prep here and want all their clients to use frozen

dinners or frozen meals from companies like Better Meals, etc. that deliver

to elderly and disabled clients.

They are gradually cutting back more and more on anything that isn't

personal care.

They did this about 3 years ago. Plus they no longer help clients get their

groceries.

Take care

Bye for now

Angie,

I think it sucks. I have been working in California to try to get

one Medicaid eligibility category fixed so that more people with

disabilities currently ineligible for health care could get it.

(also a member of this list) has worked her butt off

to get case workers involved in our reform work. Wow, what an eye-

opener! The problems you're describing are indicative of high-level

government ineptitude and low-level defeatism.

Here, none of the county computers are linked to the state computers,

and in larger urban counties the workers have to walk to a different

floor or even a different building to simply compare data sets.

There are different software programs depending on the county you're

in, and neither work correctly...both requiring manual calculations

and/or annual data re-entry on the part of the case worker who has a

caseload of 350+. Then there's the ignored fight that has been

smoldering since this eligibility category was instated: The state

argues that it is the responsibility of the counties to train their

own staff, and the counties say it's the state's responsibility. So

instead of working together to resolve this conflict, no trainings

have happened unless they've been initiated and paid for community-

based advocates and organizations.

The other thing I realized is that most social workers are encouraged

to be clerks and are discouraged from being advocates.

Hence, bad service for us. Do you know who works on systemic

advocacy in your area? They might be able to dive in to the problems

and shake things up.

Hi there,, YES I DO remember you! When your doc said that you are anemic, WHY is he not prescribing PROCRIT and NEUPOGEN for you ,, they are blood builders that are always given to ppl who become anemic from medications..or dialysis etc,, They NEED to give those to you long long before they reduce your meds and totally blow your chance to reach SVR.. Call your doc tomorrow and request Procrit for your anemia and Neupogen for your low white blood cells... Sheesh, they should already know this.. This is one of the reasons that this group is really good because we HAVE been through this before and know from experience what to ask for.. Good luck honey,, and keep us informed!!! jaxraggzcutie@... wrote: Hi All, I am completing my first month of tx. Oh I know,, I think that the neupogen shots made me ache WORSE than the Interferon,, but do not let your doc lower your dose until he has tried everything else first.. to do that would reduce greatly your chance at SVR and thats what its all about anyway,, right?raggzcutie@... wrote: Thanks so much. Well, that is quite a stretch...since seems to be confined to the child, I

personally do not see a swine flu connection. From everything I've read, other

than the cycles, these kids have pretty kick-butt immune systems. What I

do know is that they don't know much about , but I've heard it is

autoimmune.

I too am annoyed with all of the panic. We just recovered from suspected H1N1,

so no need for the vax here! I happen to be 9mos pregnant (8 mos at the time of

the flu). Yes, I was sick, but I was still able to work from home and still able

to function, it really was not that bad. literally had it for 2 days and

he woke up one morning perfectly fine, all symptoms gone. He started to show

symptoms on a Wednesday night and was back to normal by the weekend.

luckily no longer fevers due to T & A, but I had avoided most vax's when he

was fevering because they seemed to always bring a nasty fever on. So, I

probably still would have avoided the swine flu vax, especially since he has

always been very healthy other than his fever cycles. He still is super

healthy. He also does not have the chicken pox vax and it went around his

daycare and he never got it. I was suprised because the chicken pox is really

contagious.

to function, it really was not that bad. literally had it for 2 days and

he woke up one morning perfectly fine, all symptoms gone.

I was suprised because the chicken pox is really

contagious.

From what I understand - it's not that our children are immune system

comprimised - it's that our children have hyper active immune systems - meaning

that they work TOO well. That's what our Ped. Rheum. told us. As far as a

pre-exisiting condition I don't know. Strange.

It doesn't sound logical - my kid never has a virus or any other obvious reason

for the fever. That is what makes so odd. Fever, but no reason for it. So

I can't see the connection with swine flu or any other flu. Because the fever

occurs at almost set times, it can't be set off by a virus (unless the virus

happens to come around at set times, but the doctor I went to every three weeks

before we knew about could never find anything wrong).

My son had horrible looking tonsilles but no ulcers in his mouth. He had

the fevers since 3 months old. We never thought to check his throat as an

infant. When

he could finally tell me his throat hurt at around age 2ish, the Dr finally

started to recognize that it might be ...We had his tonsilles removed

at age 4 and he has not had another episode. He is now 5 and half. The ENT

said his tonsilles were definately the culprit of the .

Thanks,
