Oh yes, it did, thanks for the tip... I have so many cute ones I'd

love to post, I could probably put 100! But will see what I find

w/the amount of space available! Thank you!

Your best bet is to do an internet search. But I think it has

It can be frustrating when this happens. With my 4 boys, I have been through this numerous times, and used to get angry and want to say things also. My mom still does, lol. I have learned to shrug it off. I don't owe anyone an explanation, but I now use it as an opportunity to bring about some understanding. I have some cards that say my child has autism for more info, go to and it lists the web site of Autism Society. Sometimes when someone makes a comment, I just look at them and say, you should see us on a bad day, lol However if I have my with me, he usually says everything I want to but aM to nice to say. He is 11, and dx with autism, bipolar, tourettes, ODD, and about everything else you can imagine depending on the doctor you ask. Because our kids look normal, most people do not see the disability right away. People make remarks out of ignorance mostly. SO use the opportunity to educate them about your child. A friend of mine wanted to buy her son a t shirt that reads: I'm

autistic. What's your excuse?

LOL! I thought that was great. :D

Another friend wants to just shout at ppl, " He's autistic! " She hasn't

yet, though.

Even though we don't know Max's diagnosis yet, I have already told

ppl, " We're having him evaluated for autism and other developmental

disorders. " I've had only 2 ppl claim he's not, but neither is a

doctor and neither sees him on a regular basis.

But maybe telling ppl, " She's autistic " isn't something you want to

do. Just thought I'd give some input for what we've done thus far.

If at all possible I like to tell people that is AS. He doesn't usually act badly in public but he does a couple odd things like last weekend at his brother's baseball tournament, he sat on a picnic blanket, cuddling his baby blanket. This blanket usually doesn't leave the house except when we are travelling - it was in the car with him for the car trip. A few people were staring at him because he did look a bit goofy, such a big boy, with a baby blanket, but because we were all sitting watching the game, I had a chance to explain about the AS and let them know what a comfort the blanket is to him, while he is sitting watching a game he hates. It made him happy. Everyone agreed that the main thing was to have him happy while enduring yet another of his brother's ball games! I'm sure some people still don't get it, even after I explain but that's too bad for them!! All I can do is tell it like it is, whether they will listen or not!

I think that is the hardest part about AS - we look normal and therefore are

judged as if we were. It is only over time that people realise how

pervasive AS is - especially for those of us with milder forms of AS. Of

course, to us we ARE normal :) My mother didn't believe my son had anything

wrong with him when diagnosed with ADHD or AS. It was only when I talked to

her about me having AS that she started to believe - but when I pointed out

that Dad probably had it too, then she could see it was a problem. She has

been moaning about Dad's behaviour for as long as I can remember :)

I have cards I keep with me. The front of the card says, " My Child's

Behaviour May Be Disturbing To You. My Child is Not Spoiled or

Misbehaving. MY CHILD HAS AUTISM " Then in small print it gives

statistics and on the back it lists the symptoms including

communication problems, inability to understand social cues, odd

behaviours, sensory issues and medical issues (headaches, GI issues

etc). I don't care what others think but feel if I can take an

opportunity to educate them, they might act differently when they see

another autistic kid.

Unfortunately, there will always be people who are insensitive and rude. Or the parents get the look that says, "Poor dear". I really dislike that one. Trinni,

I think it really depends on

your goals how much of each type of exercise you want to do. I like to do twice

daily yoga, but I don’t really count that as my exercise, but it is daily

stretching sort of... If I am doing a maintenance plan I will often do a

similar schedule to what you have mapped out. For a lose weight plan I may add more

cardio. For a tone the muscles I plan more weight work. If I feel ab

weakness I may concentrate on more Pilates or ab work or yoga. Every

month or period of time (I’m counting the summer as all one time period

because it is a busy time) I re-evaluate myself and my training goals. I decide

on a goal and develop a plan of action (or workout schedule) I make sure I am

giving muscles time to rest (so if I do daily weight work I will do upper body

one day, lower the next or even separate the upper body into two sections) If I

need daily cardio I switch types so I don’t end up hurting myself or

getting bored. I’m on a muscle toning plan right now which is 6 days

weights, 4 days cardio, 2 days Pilates or Pilates inspired workouts. I’m

finding it intense but fun.

Question

Good morning everyone :-)

I have what is probably is silly question, anyway it's concerning

setting up a rotation. The way I figure it, I should do cardio 4

times a week, weight training, 3 times a week and some sort of

stretching/toning type once a week.

Consequently what I'm doing right now looks something like this

Monday - weights/pilates

Tuesday - cardio/stretching

Wed. - weights/pilates

Thurs - cardio/stretching

Fri. - weights/pilates

Sat. - cardio/stretching

Sun - rest or some kind of light activity

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

On a happy note, my dvds will be delivered today *doing happy

dance*. Can't wait to get home today and try at least one out :-)

Hope you all have an amazing day :-)

Hi ,

Thanks for your input. I'm looking to lose some weight but also to

tone up. I planned on re-evaluating my plan at the end of August and

make some changes at that time. I get really bored with cardio so I

do have a variety of tapes. I think I will take your advice and up

my cardio (ick) while still incorporating weights and other toning.

Cardio doesn’t have to be just aerobics.

I’ve developed a liking for kickboxing and dance aerobics. Also there is

swimming, running, biking, sports (as long as you are participating) and I’m

sure I’ve missed something. There has to be something out there that is

fun (for you). Oh dancing is great exercise. Skipping rope just about

killed me the other day. If I do a full cardio week I like to do 3 high

intensity workouts and 2 or 3 lighter ones. A good fun routine for me

would be 3 kickboxing workouts with dance aerobics in between. But in the not

tape category good light cardio workouts for me are swimming, biking, speed

walking or dancing. I especially like using something like swimming the day after

a hard step tape (give the knees a break – poor kneesJ How about the Bosu

or a trampoline? – that sounds like fun if you have the space. I guess if

none of that sounds fun you just have to grit your teeth and do it lol. I love

cardio work so I guess I’m just lucky.

I'm with you on the dancing. I can't bear regular aerobics, just jumping around for the sake of jumping around. I want to learn something and have a good time. I've got this belly dance workout and then a teaching DVD for belly dance that I like a lot and if all else fails, I put on the Bee Gees and just dance. LOL

I have a question for anyone who has the 1 Minute Workout DVD. I programmed it for a 32 minute workout tonight and it repeated a couple of exercises. Is that usual or did I do something wrong? Not that I minded repeating a couple that much.

Hi!

I don't think I ever said " welcome " so " welcome " I've

been having a busy summer so haven't had a chance to

post as much as I would like. I'm currently goofing

off from work (I work at home part time and in an

office part time) but I wanted to say that your

rotation looks good - nicely balanced - depending on

your goals and to change things up and shock your body

you may want to alter this pattern on occasion - doing

more strength or more cardio or alternating the types

of strength training you do.

It looks like you're off to a good start though!

Hi !

Re: the 1 Min workout DVD - yes, it does repeat some

segments within the workout. I didn't mind too much

as you can do anything for a minute, LOL! I think

what is wrong with this rotation that you are doing? it is very

balanced! but if you want to do more cardio than weights, then just

drop a weight session, replacing it with a cardio workout.... or

schedule a cardio workout on sunday.

Hi Sharon,

I was diagnosed at age 21 with ocd. I'm now 38, and unfortunately still have

it. It will never go away. It will wax and wane. You can get it at any

age.Different people have different forms. My oldest daughter has it also, but

it's not bad enough to warrant therapy or medication, but that doesn't mean she

won't need it later in life.My 4yr old son , on the other hand has full blown ,

bad thought ocd, andit is disabling unless he's medicated. My middle daughter

has moderate ocd. (one of each-lol) My kids were destined to get it, seeing

myself and my ex-husband have it. It's genetic.

Hope this helps a little

It does, thank you. My hubby used to always joke that I have it, but now that

dd does, I do see it in myself. It has never been so bad as to effect my daily

life, though. Just little things that no one would notice unless you were with

me all the time, like dh. I can see it a little in one of my sisters and our

mom some, as well. Dh was adopted, so we dont know much about his family

medical history. I dont see any of it in my 16 yo and nothing in my 3 yo, yet.

Abby has always been " different " than our other kids, very unique.

Hi :-)

I actually did some kickboxing yesterday. It was on Fit tv and

absolutely enjoyed it. It was a lot of fun and got my heart rate up.

I'll have to check to see if that instrustor has any videos out. I

also ordered Cardio intervals and Fiesta fitness (i think that's

what it called) from Amazon. Fingers crossed, I will find something

that's loads of fun.

Thanks :-)

Hi Donna and thank you for the welcome :-)

Thanks so much for your input. I'm trying to find something that

works for me and I can fit into my schedule. Losing a few pounds

would be great as well :-). I really like the idea of shaking things

up as well. That give me an excuse to shop for and try different

dvds.

Thanks :-)
