Wow, Ca @ 24 yrs. I am very glad you are ok. That is scary business. The current

" rule " is a mammo when you are 10 years younger than your first degee relative

who had brst ca when they got brst ca. confused yet?? So, they would say your

daughters would need to begin screening at very young age...like 14. Although I

have never heard of anyone screening a 14 yo. Or if there is no fam hx, have a

mammo by age 40 and every year thereafter. These are current ACR and ACS

guidelines as I know them.

I totally agree with you you should never skip health screenings or

check ups it's your life that is at risk. I only have one thing to

say though about having a mammogram when is the right time????? I

had one done was I was 24 and found out that I had a lump that

needed to be removed and tested and I found out that it was cancer.

I can't seem to stress the point that everyone no matter what your

age or what your family history is you should take every

percaution. I am now happy to say that with treatment and great

doctors I am cancer free, ( in remission for 3 years now). No one

in my family has ever had cancer before I am the first, and I am

thankful for the woman who came and spoke at my university about her

challenges with breast cancer which inspired me to get checked.
