Some would make you gag they are so sweet and others leave you wondering....get a different plant. Starting them from seed, I let them get 8/10 leaves apiece, then I taste each one. No sweet, it's the chickenyard for that one. Just keep the sweet one/s. Also even among sweet ones, some taste more 'licorice-y' to me than others, and I personally not fond of licorice so those I give away. Guest guest
Amy the CPSI is a very interesting web site that contained a lot of useful information. I was looking at the 10 Best and Worst Foods http://www.cspinet.org/nah/10foods_bad.html and I was shocked at the Olive Garden's Tour of Italy was one it. We eat there from time to time and I think I had the Tour of Italy once but I don't think I'll have it again. If you combine 1 bread stick and 1 serving of salad you will get a whole days worth of calories, a couple of days worth of fat grams, and about 3 days worth of sodium. CSPI does not accept FDA opinion, they review the science to form their own opinions. Here is their page on food additives. As of now, the pink and blue packets should be avoided. The yellow packet is not on the avoid list.http://www.cspinet.org/reports/chemcuisine.htmMy guess is that most of us would like to avoid all food additives if we could. I just wanted to mention the organization, in case anyone was interested.Amy
Guest guest
I subscribe to CPSI, but I had not come across that page on the web...I mainly just read what I get in the mail monthly, tho occasionally go on a 'binge' looking for more info on the website. Thanks for the link, as I want to save that one!Ginny From: Tom Matuschak <pmatus@...> Sent: Thursday, December 29, 2011 5:22 AM Subject: RE: Re: Sweetner Alternatives Amy the CPSI is a very interesting web site that contained a lot of useful information.
